The Texas Dogfather

If you're on the fence, jump over it! Matt and his team are the people for you, I promise. My husband and I adopted a new dog months ago after our original pack slowly windled down to one. Our older boy was having difficulty acclimating to being an only dog, so we knew he needed a friend. We adopted a super sweet, pretty timid girl. Of course, we don't know her background, her traumas, or her triggers. She was mostly well behaved on her own, but one could tell she was insecure and not used to a lot of human interaction. I've worked in the veterinary industry for several years so I have a relatively good understanding about animal behavior, but of course I'm not a professional in that sense. So we hired The Dogfather, Matt, to help us fill in the blanks we were missing. It is the best decision I've made for my pups in a long time!! Within weeks, her behavior started changing for the better and we saw her personality blossom. She gained confidence, personal thinking skills, and overall just slowly became a funny, silly, loving girl. And now loves her older brother! Matt brought such kindness, love, consideration and hope to each session. You can tell he absolutely loved what he does and that he believes every dog deserves a chance to be loved and live a good life in their home. He believes the same for us as pet parents too! I am so thankful for his tike and expertise. We are beyond thrilled to bring our pups out to the ranch as soon as some medical things for our girl is taken care of. Thank you all so much. The Queen Behind the Screen, Michelle, is absolutely amazing. Easy to communicate with and get a hold of, and 100% on top of everything. You guys rock!

Our vet recommended The Dogfather and we are so happy to discover them. Matt has given us deeper understanding of our dog as well as effective tools to manage his reactivity. Michelle handles communication and scheduling very well. They have an excellent and professional team! We are also very happy with their boarding services which we tried recently for our 3 dogs. The property is huge with plenty of beautiful trees. I feel relaxed every time we drive in. Boarding rooms are spacious and they offer a variety of optional daily enrichments. It really felt like our dogs were taking their own vacation too. 🏖️ We trust and highly recommend The Texas DogFather!

This man is a charlatan. He is extremely rude, confrontational and arrogant. We adopted a rescue a few months ago and really wanted it to work out. Sadly, the dog had some behaviors that were unacceptable in a house with children. We contacted the Rescue and they told us Matt was going to pick the dog up. When he arrived, he asked about what had happened to lead us to our decision. When we told him, he proceeded to ask us why we didn’t do things differently and questioned our whole perception on being dog owners. Then he told us that ‘I’ was the reason the whole situation went wrong. I’ve owned dogs.. I work with people. This guy just wanted to be confrontational when I wasn’t having his BS. He never apologized for making us feel so uncomfortable. Buyer beware. Do not use this guy. He has no credentials.

My pack of five dachshunds (small dogs — big attitudes) had gone from being best friends and cuddle buddies to angry aggressive beasts that were fighting and biting each other and ME!! I learned that they were looking to me to be a better parent and leader which would help us to restore peace within the pack. On our first session, Matt had them (and me) successfully doing a pause/wait at the door before being released outside instead of barreling out the door like a band of banshees. By the second visit, Matt had calmed my fighting boys and set them on a path to be cordial again. Flash forward to today… peace has been restored to the pack and everyone is getting along like best friends again. More importantly, Matt has given me the confidence to handle my dogs when they get aggressive with each other or me. I have the tools to parent properly and restore order to the house.
