Every time I visit the Academy I have a great time. The grounds are top notch. Derek and the staff are the best. I have had a dog there in training and would not hesitate to have another one trained there. I would recommend it for anyone looking to have a dog trained. I can't say enough good things about my experience at The Retriever Academy.

We could not be more thrilled with our lab’s success from a started retriever through passing the 2018 Master National. Derek took on the challenge of a talented dog with a gleam in her eye. He layed out the customized plan for her training career which has been 100% correct in focusing her energy to a successful result. What fun is it to come to The Retiever Academy and run our lab with Derek right behind us giving advice. We are looking forward to Derek’s preparation for the 2019 Master Narional. The facilities, technical water and lodging are a wonderful place to stay, train and learn — the best we have seen. At the end of the day, our decision to send Sage to the Academy was based on Derek’s results in training hard working, happy retrievers. Mr. Derek Randle is to be commended for his contribution to welcoming and encouraging others, like myself, into the hunt test realm. In 2007, I acquired a female pup from Derek, which was the first step of my journey. From the beginning, Derek encouraged me to work with and handle my dog, always giving me his honest and open appraisal, just as he critiques himself. Basically, Derek had to begin by teaching me something as simple as how to blow a whistle correctly, learning the commands of sit, here, and heel, which led me to running my dog and passing her in two AKC master hunt tests.
