The Reliable Dog

Ian came to our home to work with our dog, Chipper and was absolutely amazing! We are so appreciative of the quality time he spent getting to know us and our pup, while teaching us valuable and eye-opening techniques to help her learn. He made us feel so comfortable with the wealth of knowledge and expertise he brings to the table. We felt so good about everything taught to us and saw immediate changes in Chipper's behavior and obedience. Ian's approach and technique in working with dogs is to really work with the dog in front of him. Rather than wanting to break Chipper or change her into a submissive dog, something she is not, he was attentive to her needs and worked with her in a way that she felt happy and comfortable with as well. We are beyond excited to continue training with Chipper and set up another session with Ian!

The Reliable Dog is Best of Breed. My boyfriend and I live in NYC with our 4 year old chocolate lab rescue Murdock and wanted to enjoy bringing him to my parents' house on the Cape. However, the past two summers have been absolutely awful because of his separation anxiety, hostility towards my dad, and barking and growling when anyone came to their house. Since we had tried dog calming products, CBD and were just going to stop bringing him with us, we decided one last effort would be to find a dog trainer on the Cape. A quick Google search led us to The Reliable Dog, and since, an email, a phone call, and an 1.5 hour session at my parents' house with Ian has led us to understanding why Murdock is behaving this way, and teaching me how to train him so that we can develop a new, healthy relationship. Last week my parents' response to us having a dog trainer come to their house was that of a fixed mindset "we are just trying to process all of this" and "can't teach an old dog new tricks." Now I have a feeling they will recommend The Reliable Dog to anyone on the Cape with dog issues. Just like going to the gym...when you see results, you want more...so I'm looking forward to scheduling another session with Ian.

We asked Ian to come out and spend a few hours taking a look at our dogs behavior and tell us what to do and how to train her. He was open and honest with us about her "issues" and how we were possibly feeding into her insecurities. He was full of helpful hints and followed up with an email a few days later going over everything we learned. He is truly invested in teaching people and dogs and his devotion to it shows.
