We are so grateful for the folks at The Reliable Dog! When we picked up our puppy we were told that he’s very social and smart - my first thought was, “oh no!” Fortunately, a friend recommended Ian and The Reliable Dog. Louie our young Golden Retriever loves the place. We do too! The variety of services Ian offers fits in nicely with our busy lives/schedules. Louie continues to show evidence of the work he’s doing at Day School and I’m working towards becoming more reliable in the private and group lessons we do together! Give The Reliable Dog a call! Could not say enough about Ian and The Reliable Dog. He is extremely knowledgable about training dogs and how their minds work...which was crucial in training our lab. Before Ian, and we had had another training service in past, Atlas was impossible on a leash. He got to a strong 75lb quickly and soon became almost dangerous to walk as he would pull very hard. It didnt take long at all, my guess is 6 sessions and that may partly be due to a 2 week break in between to be neutered, and we already had a dog we could enjoy walking with! We did the dayschool program which was all around a great experience! Training, socializing, learning good manners...highly recommend it. We still have our personal sessions to go and are looking forward to seeing how we can further help our boy be the best he can be. We will absolutely be sending him back to school in the fall. But truly the biggest change came in his personality. Atlas now knows more of what he should and shouldn't do and that greatly reduced his anxiety/pacing/marking. He is more relaxed and confident in our home. He still has his wonderful lab energy, but he knows what to do with it now! We are all happier for having chosen the Reliable Dog. Thank you!!

In a short period of time Ian has corrected behavior issues with Romeo Maximillion such as leash pulling & aggressive barking and he now walks calmly by my side. Romeo consistently responds to many commands: down, go to bed, crate, come and off. It’s reassuring to have Ian as a personal trainer and behaviorist answering all questions and providing step by step guidance. Thanks a Million for my well behaved boy! Deborah

Working with Ian has been such a rewarding experience for our family. Ian worked with us to truly understand and connect with our dog. In doing so our pup became calmer, more confident and obedient. We can now safely walk her off leash and feel confident that she will follow our lead. Ian has a special gift of being able to truly get to the root issues so that a solid training foundation can be built.

I can’t say enough how grateful I am that I found The Reliable Dog in my search for a trainer. I had two stubborn one year old Boston Terriers running the show in my home. I was exasperated to say the least. Both were impolite, stranger reactive and dog reactive. Before talking with Ian I can honestly say I was considering rehoming. In our initial call Ian took the time to truly listen to the issues I was having and offered suggestions right away. He was patient,straightforward and explained their behaviors in a way I could understand. He helped me to understand the importance of home structure and how it plays into anxiety and reactive behavior. No other vet or trainer I had consulted with before had ever done this. Ian worked with both my dogs separately. We opted for Board and Trains. We saw a change in behavior the very first day of returning home. While away, we got updates and photos sent throughout their stay. It was so nice to see glimpses of them learning and changing! During pick-up Ian truly prepared us to implement the necessary at home training and he was always quick to respond to any questions that came up as I went along. I would highly recommend The Reliable Dog to anyone looking to give their dog a solid foundation and correct any unwanted behaviors. Ian gave us a second chance and I am now confident that they truly will be reliable dogs for years to come!
