The Proper Puppy PNW

Our training with Lori and Proper Puppy PNW has far exceeded expectations and has helped us cultivate our relationship with Cooper into something really rewarding, quite special. Lori gets amazing results, quickly. I greatly appreciate her brain science based approach - it's effective, easy and fun to learn, and equally useful for both dog and handler. Our 22 mon old male Golder Retriever, Cooper, loves to train with Lori, especially when Lori's handsome boy Calloway joins us. If Cooper hears Lori's voice on IG posts or us mentioning her name Coop runs to the window looking for them, and tried to stowaway with Cal in Lori's car after the last lesson. Sessions are fun, diverse, always productive and useful. Lori's a keen observer, and will spot and focus in on problems, or react to how the dog or handler is doing overall and re-adust a lesson on the fly if needed, including ratcheting up the challenges. Lori adapts the pace and exercises as needed for each family member, and accounts for the differences in our individual relationships with Cooper. Lori is easy going and affable, but gets down to business and makes the most of our lesson time. Lori's rates are on par with any educated, knowledgeable professional, and Lori consitently drives toward results that justify the cost. We're experienced dog people with years of family dogs between us. I've worked with at least half a dozen different trainers and courses locally over the years. With Cooper, we started with a 6-week puppy manners class, and second group class at about 6 months. Training with Lori, our relationship and abillity to communicate and learn with Cooper has grown beyond levels I'd imagined. Lori changed and expanded our vocablary, tone of voice, gestures, posture, eye contact, and set high expectations and standards. The commands and behaviors we develop are super useful, and help make Cooper a welcome guest and good citizen. Building reliable obedience greatly reduces the work of managing our daily life together, eliminates stress, and helps keep Cooper safe. Coop's become the dog that makes everyone want to have a dog when they meet him - super smart, obedient, confident, loving, gentle, non-reactive, attentive to owner, effortless to live with, and always fun. He's not perfect, but everyone notices and comments about his obedience, manners, and demeanor. All kudos go to Coop for just being a great dog, and to Lori for showing us how to level up our game. Working with Lori is a privilege; I appreciate smart, driven people who are passionate about their calling, mentor and teach others, and work hard to build a reputable, successful small business. Lori and Proper Puppy PNW deserve top marks for results, value, and a fun, positive, rewarding teaching style.

It’s difficult to articulate how much Lori’s training program has added such rich value to our little family dynamic. My sweet Australian Labradoodle was a very rambunctious and mischievous puppy, who needed training to help foster a positive working relationship and help harness some of that wild energy. She helped me understand better communication strategies by cultivating firm boundaries, understanding dog psychology & noticing their body language. We did board & train in addition to some 1:1 individual sessions that were truly invaluable & have helped shape the longer term trajectory of our lives. I highly recommend Lori’s services, she is incredibly communicative, non-shaming & clear in her approach to creating measurable progress & positive change. She offers homework & training videos, in addition to catering each session to the dog’s unique training needs based on their personality & breed. Her approach & advice has allowed for me to build confidence in my abilities to nurture my dog with a firm & positive structure that allows for a happy & healthy home dynamic in addition to letting the dog truly thrive with strong yet loving leadership.

So thankful for The Proper Puppy PNW training program and boarding. I was in way over my head with our German Shepherd puppy. I was so frustrated and overwhelmed to the point of possibly re-homing him. Luckily we found Lori with The Proper Puppy and she completely transformed our relationship with our shepherd. She taught me so much and curbed all of my doubts. She took a very reactive dog and turned him into a well behaved gentleman. We can’t imagine life without him and I am just so thankful for the program and Lori! The Proper Puppy is also the only place we feel most comfortable boarding our dog when needed. Can’t say enough good things!
