The K9 Training Academy Orlando LLC

We brought our 6 month old Rottweiler Leia in because she was just out of control. Leash pulling, barking in her crate, horrible separation anxiety, and absolutely 0 recall. After a month with the K9 Academy, she is a changed dog. We’ve never had experience using an E Collar before, but it has been so helpful in keeping her disciplined. We cannot thank her trainer Chris and the rest of the team enough! You can tell they really care about the dogs that come in. We highly recommend the K9 Training Academy to anyone looking for a dog trainer in the central Orlando area!

The K9 Training team here is amazing!! From the owners to the trainers, they are all such great people who love to help dog owners. We brought our 1 year old German shepherd mix in who was very anxious and skittish. He is a rescue who was terrified of all loud noises and any object he didn’t immediately recognize. He would cower at strangers when they came around and bark at people who came to the house until he recognized them. The team here took our Teddy in and taught him so many things! He came out a different dog! After showing us the ropes on how to be a proper handler, Teddy has trust in us and has more freedom than ever. He still has all the same cute and silly traits, but now has some new awesome skills! We never had experience with e-collars, so we were hesitant at first but we admit now that it is an amazing addition to his training. Chris let us put the collar on our arms and feel the tens unit ourselves upon pick up because he knew I was uncertain about it. They talked us through the levels that Teddy used while in training and the level that he is normally at on the collar. They made sure that we were confident as handlers as they know that’s how Teddy will trust us. Now, Teddy knows and loves his commands. He knows what to do when it’s time to sit, stay, place, and heel and you can tell he is confident with his commands. His favorite being the “free” command (of course!) and his recall when he is on free is immediate and amazing. We loved getting to see the videos and pictures of Teddy on their social medias and we loved getting to see him trust his trainers in the YouTube video. My husband and I cannot thank the K9 Training Academy more. Teddy has freedom, confidence, and trust in us and he is living his best life now! Thank you all! We definitely recommend them!!

My German Shepherd did not respond to their style of training. Rather than adjust their methods or contact me and tell me the dog is not responding, they kept pounding their training methods into my dog for 70 days. At the end of the training my German Shepherd came home a shell of what I sent her there as. She lost 21 lb, she's quivering and just staying of everything and staying in her crate. They train using an e-collar, which i don't oppose using. However, it clearly did not work on my dog and the K9 Academy did not see this and kept forcing this training method into my dog. When she came home, the site of the e-collar petrified my dog. When she sees the ecollar, she lays down, curls up and quivers. She was obviously abused while she was at the K9 Training Academy. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Red Flags The good and the bad…two dogs one seemed to thrive while the other not so much. Red Flags… if you never see your dog on the instagram and they say they don’t have time to send you a video or picture. Red Flag. If when you do see your dog her ears are pinned back, and they tell you it was because she was running, red flag. When you pick her up and she looks really thin only to find out she has lost 25 percent of her body weight (21 lbs) Red Flag. When you have to take her to vet as soon as she gets back to have her nails cut and the vet techs have a concerned look. Red Flag. When your vet suggests Prozac you know you missed all the red flags. In fairness, I have a well trained dog. She sits, places, heels and comes when called. But she also quivers and cowers. I trusted the professionals when I should have trusted myself Watch for the red flags.
