The Green Dog

My wife and I found Lisa on a basic Internet search. We engaged her without any referrals and it was the find of a lifetime for dog owners in search of a trainer who is well versed in dog psychology and training, cares deeply about animals, and puts her all into your dog. We just finished up a 2 week immersion training session with our energetic and stubborn English Bulldog, “Romeo”, and she did everything that we could ask of a trainer. He was transformed and in the process she taught us how to transform our relationship with our dog. It was magical and very effective. She was so easy to work with, wasn’t bureaucratic, and always flexible. She really got to understand our dog and what made him tick. One of the many other things we loved about working with her is her philosophy to training: she didn’t take a rigid and inflexible approach to training. She stated at the outset that she did not want to change Romeo but, rather, just modify some of his habits and help us help him succeed by better adapting to his unique triggers. Like any good dog or horse trainer, she ultimately changed us so we can be better and more effective owners. She very effectively tailors her training methods to each dog, and views each one individually, just as good managers and coaches have to do with us people. It was absolutely enlightening. Her prices, too, were very reasonable and in line with other local trainers in our area and, actually, a good bit better than most given that (1) she came to our house so we didn’t have to drive to a common kennel or training facility (great for busy professionals) and (2) offers free lifetime tune up instruction with our dog based on the pricing model we selected. Overall, having retained multiple dog trainers in the past, we can recommend Lisa without hesitation. She is absolutely stellar. My wife and I really enjoyed working with Lisa at The Green Dog. We started with a five-month-old Terrier mix with a lot of energy and a short attention span. We chose to do the in-home training (with some self-doubt on our ability to do our part) instead of the board & train, but we started seeing positive results instantly. Lisa did a fantastic job of not only training the dog but providing us with the tools and knowledge to reinforce that training between lessons. Our goal was to have a dog we could confidently take anywhere with us, so heeling and down/stay were super important. Our expectations were exceeded, and our dog regularly goes with us everywhere that's dog friendly, including plenty of patio dining. This was probably the best investment we could put into our dog. I would highly recommend The Green Dog, and we'll certainly go back should any training needs arise in the future.

Lisa is absolutely amazing and we would recommend her to any and everyone who needs training for their dog. We did board and train for our lab and it’s been a life changing experience. Taking him out and about is now enjoyable and not stressful for any of us. We have tried other training programs before and this is the only training that has stuck for both us and our dog. Our dog absolutely loved Lisa which is so important. It’s evident that she trains with a huge love for dogs.

Lisa at The Green Dog is amazing. When I got my rescue pup, I knew I needed help with training. She provided a consultation and immediately I knew she would be a great fit. Not only did Lisa offer flexible scheduling, but she was available by phone /text whenever I needed her. She worked with me to figure out the best training method for my dog, who adores Lisa. I've also used Lisa for boarding and I think my dog was actually bummed when I picked him up :) I definitely plan to use Lisa again for boarding and would highly recommend her for training.
