The Balanced K-9

When I was lost with how to handle my slightly aggressive Aussie and looking for help, I came to google with a search of "Behavior Modification." The first thing that popped up was The Balanced K-9. Through many hours or research, asking questions and wondering if this was truly the correct choice to be making, I decided to go ahead and try it out. I couldn't have picked a better team to work through behavior modification with my furry and four-legged family member. Over a 6-week board and train program, Luciana, Chuck, and a highly trained team of people worked with my pup to adjust what he had become used to. That was food aggression, anxiety, and even basic commands. After 6 weeks of photos and videos to update his progress, we made our trek up for the Go-Home visit and were surprised to see a newly behaved dog! It was seriously like night and day between the drop-off and pick-up. After having our Aussie back for just about two weeks, I can say that Luciana, Chuck, and the team are saints in my book. They took time to nurture my dog's newly trained skills, and worked with him and us as first-time dog owners to ensure that progress endures past the 6-week board and train program. The whole team is knowledgeable in all things "dog." Both habits, breeds, training, and more. Even questions that we may have felt were silly were answered with data, knowledge, and the utmost respect. What the team at The Balanced K-9 do is hard work, but it's absolutely worth the time to collaborate with these people if you are having issues with your pup. With specialization in Behavior modification and aggression, these are the trainers you want AND need for you and your pup.

Chuck, Luciana and Bruna are incredible. 6 weeks ago, I came to them completely overwhelmed with my adorable but stubborn 1 year old maltipoo. After visiting The Balanced K-9 for our initial meeting, I knew I wouldn't be able to trust anyone else with my dog. Chuck and Luciana experts on dog training and are incredible kind, caring and communicative throughout the board and train process. I was able to follow along with my dogs journey through weekly messages and videos. Yesterday, my dog "graduated" from the program. I am over the moon with the results. My dog is still his spunky and silly self, but now he consistently listens and obeys the sit, down, stay, place and break commands. His barking has ceased, he is calmer and happier and he is able to walk on a leash properly with and without distractions. Most of all, the aggression we were seeing in him before Chuck and Luciana is completely gone. Their holistic approach to training is so incredibly effective. When we got Rocco almost 2 years ago he was the runt of the litter of 12 pups. We had no idea he would grow to be 120 pounds. As he grew, he became fiercely protective of us. So much so we couldn’t really have friends or family over. He was a lovable snuggle bug with us, and would bark, bite, and intimidate anyone else. We couldn’t take him for walks or in the car. So much time was focused on not only protecting other people, but Rocco as well. One more bite and we would not be able to keep him, and believe me it was close. I knew I had to find a solution and after research I found The Balanced K-9. After speaking with the owners, I knew this was the place for Rocco. For 6 weeks I was sent pictures and videos of his progress, and our dog that was aggressive and in a muzzle slowly transitioned into the good boy I knew he was. Today, after our 2 hour “Go Home” meeting, he is finally back with us. We were able to learn all his new skills and walk him freely through Home Depot. Yes, I cried. I will forever be grateful for meeting Chuck and Luciana, and for their patience and dedication that gave Rocco a new lease on life. I could’ve never done this on my own. ❤️

If your dog don’t have any aggression issues, this is a good training class. They use prong collar and e-collar to teach your dog some basic commands, like place, break, heel, etc. My dog is a 2-year-old corgi, Maru, and he is doing okay after returning home. However, Maru also has some aggression issues, like resource guarding, food aggression, and touch sensitivity. He came back and those defensive behaviors still exist. They only trained the OUT command, so he would stop eating. But still, he will snarl or even try to bite me if I want to touch him. Same with his toys or anything he likes. Maru has relatively complicated touch sensitivity issues. Sometimes he will try to bite you when you touch his head, but sometimes he won’t. That’s why I spent so much money seeking help from some professionals. Really disappointed. Not worth the money. 5/3 Maru was there for 6 weeks, and according to all the details we've discussed through emails, I am pretty sure he attended the Intensive Behavior Modification program. I have contacted them, and they said we could have a follow-up visit when they are available, no further information till now.
