TacoMo Dog Training

Our family initially sought out TacoMo when we first decided to purchase a puppy. As first time dog owners, maybe getting an Australian Shepherd wasn’t the smartest move, but that’s what we did. I never understood the need for “professional training”, I thought we were gonna do 1 basic class and be done with it. But here we are 2.5 years and 6 classes later. It was so nice going through classes with Kim and Erin, not only do they know their stuff but they’re also fellow Aussie owners, so they understand exactly what I was going through… even when Zelda decided to chew threw our couch. I’ve never seen a dog actually have a smile on their face during class, but that’s Zelda. She loves her people. She loves her friends. And she loves to go to school. But that’s not all, she also loves to go see Mr.Rick, now we haven’t gotten the opportunity to do a trick class with Rick as the instructor but we do love to see him for all things grooming. Zelda hates her nails to be trimmed, but he’s easily able to talk her down and work with her until he can do them. I owe a lot of credit to Mr. Rick because now, she even lets me do her nails, it might take a lot more treats and time but he’s helped desensitize her to it so it’s at least manageable. Zelda always looks (and smells😉) like a princess when she’s done with grooming. Shes an aussie so she can be a brat, but that never stops Rick. He always does magical work with her. It’s impossible to choose her favorite between Erin, Kim, Rick and Lynx (the sassy and sweet daughter). Did you know they also do pack walks during the summer months? What an awesome way to meet up with old classmates, meet new dog friends, and get some exercise in, all while ensuring those shy dogs are able to enjoy it too by being in a controlled environment. She loves TacoMo, she even “knows” where TacoMo is. Believe me, she gets MAD, think puffing her lips, pacing and whining, when we drive by the office without stopping.

TacoMo is truly the best! I have a 10 year old, disabled Chow and Kim and Rick have been there for us throughout his entire life. I first called a decade ago in a panic when I realized I was in over my head with a stubborn puppy (if you know Chows, you know) and Rick answered the phone and calmly talked me down and encouraged me to sign up for their puppy class and join some pack walks. Kim was amazing in our puppy class and we learned so much. The pack walks were fun and a great way to connect. Then as my dog developed difficulty with getting his nails trimmed and being groomed, Rick’s calm energy and skills were there to support us. To this day, Rick is the only person other than myself who my dog will allow to groom him. Kim and Rick are so compassionate, knowledgeable, and really phenomenal at what they do! Thank you guys for all of your support over the years, we are so grateful!!
