Working with Szegi Haus K9 Solutions really taught us how to build a stronger connection with our dog during training and ultimately, a better relationship which fostered better behavior. Training can be difficult, especially during the puppy stage but Alex and Gennie provided us with everyday practical tools that were straightforward and easy to incorporate into our day to day. The training was not only fun for our pup but also for us as the environment at their facility is so welcoming and supportive. Our dog really transformed over those 5 weeks and so did we as owners given their approach to training. They really emphasized our role in her learning process that I hadn’t seen at other training facilities I spoke with and I think that made all the difference. I am so grateful for their well researched approach to dog training and feel lucky that we found their class. If you are interested in forming a stronger bond with your dog, work as a team with them and willing to take all their advice into consideration, they will absolutely provide solutions you’ve been looking for. Couldn’t recommend them more.

I brought my five year old gal Aria, who had never experienced formal training sessions before, through the five-week Szegi Haus basic obedience course. Aria has a history of being dog-reactive and generally fearful around unfamiliar people and places. At the first couple of sessions, she was nervous and unsure of herself, even shaking with fear (as she often did when taken out of her “comfort zone”). There were new people, other dogs, and she was in a place she’d never been before. Lots of scary stuff, all at once! But… training is focus, discipline, and repetition, all harmonized via clear communication of expectations and reinforced with praise and rewards. This is what Genny and Alex show you how to do most effectively, in a way that will translate to lasting positive results. Aria has gone from a shrinking little violet to boldly breezing through her obedience routine only a few feet away from unfamiliar people and dogs! Amazing! Finally, I feel inclined to address some negative commentary about the owners from another review. Genny and Alex are straightforward, no-nonsense communicators (to both humans and dogs), and remember you are literally paying them to criticize your dog-handling technique in real time. The average dog owner doesn’t realize how they often send mixed messages to their dog or even reinforce unwanted behavior without knowing it! These trainers will see that happening and call you out. They are not unkind, but they don’t sugarcoat their words. Did I like being called out when it happened? No, because everyone likes to think they’re perfect lol. But am I a 500% better dog handler after this course? Yep! Am I much more aware of how dogs learn and develop skills? Definitely! Is Aria more at ease, confident, and obedient since completing the course? ABSOLUTELY!!!

Tater was having issues with dog reactivity on our walks. It made it almost impossible to take him anywhere where there would be other dogs. I had no idea how to change his behavior. I searched online for dog training, I knew I didn’t want to take him to a big corporate facility or a pet store that offers dog training because a lot of them are positive reinforcement only and I didn’t feel confident I would get the results. I researched a few small places and decided on Szegi Haus, from day 1 I was happy and knew I made the right choice! They are very knowledgeable and hands on! They explain dog behaviors and teach you how to communicate with your dog. They also teach you tools to use to help correct bad behaviors. I am now confident when I take him for walks! I no longer cross the street to avoid other dogs because I know how to control him and he knows what I expect from him.
