Steady Paws

Unfortunately we had a bad experience with our mini goldendoodle being trained by Jon at Steady Paws. When we dropped our 6 month puppy there, she knew commands for sit and shake and was learning down. She stayed for 16 days and during that time became good at the down command and learned to place but not to stay at her place, nor does she walk without straining and pulling. She continues to jump on people. From my first conversation with Jon, I stressed the most important thing we wanted her to learn was potty training. That didn't happen at all. We followed Jon's instructions for continued training once we brought her home but We were very disappointed in the experience, especially given the very high cost of the course. In my view, a waste of money.

Jon is by far the best trainer we have found (Allison is also a great trainer and almost always available). We have a year and a half old Dutch Shepherd, Groot. Dutchies are a high anxiety, high drive breed (appx. 75 lbs). We tried a couple different trainers/methods but my fiancé and I were unable to connect with them the way we did with the people at Steady Paws. We were able to train our Dutchie on the basics, but we needed somebody to help dial down the anxiety. In 16 days, Jon and his team were able to get Groot to place and not move until allowed to. Any amount of a stimulus would not get him to move. He walks with little to no issues. He listens the first time we give a command and rarely needs correction after the first one. No more jumping and going crazy when somebody comes over. Jon takes the time to get to know you and your pup. He timely responded to all texts/calls and so did his staff. Steady Paws regularly sends pictures and videos on what they are working on. I strongly recommend Steady Paws for anyone looking to train their pups. It’s also a great place for daycare.

Our German Shepherd was out of control. He was jumping, pulling on the leash, and crazy for attention whenever another dog or person came nearby. We needed help because the pup was growing fast, and we were having trouble managing his excitement. We had started to grow exasperated... and then we went to Steady Paws. I can’t say enough good things about Jon and his team. Jon is a consummate professional. He was patient with us and explained everything. He worked A LOT with our dog and taught us how to maintain our dog’s good behavior. We just got our dog back and went to a park. Our dog was so well behaved, we felt comfortable letting children pet him. Right afterward, we took our dog to a food truck stand. We received several compliments on how well behaved the dog was. This would have been unthinkable a couple weeks ago. Jon’s work has changed our lives. We enjoy our pup again. Huge thanks. Definitely recommend.
