Steady On Point

Great overall experience! Alan always talked about bringing out the natural instincts and developing them, and he did. He had our 8 month old lab pointing, flushing and retrieving birds with great enthusiasm. Alan uses a positive reinforcement technique to develop a conditioned response that is now engrained in the dog. The dog is very easy to work with when we continue reinforcement training at home. We use the electronic collar to teach yard boundries at home. Finally we appreciated the progress updates that were sent at least twice a week.

After reading his reviews and looking at the website, I felt confident that I could contact him to explain my dogs needs and if not a good fit for his program could possibly guide me to another trainer more suitable. He is a rescued hound with reactivity issues vs innate hunting behaviors, I am looking for an expert opinion/evaluation so that I can continue his training in which ever direction is best..I was not able to accurately explain the situation as he kept interrupting me and ultimately told me to just get rid of the dog. He also asked if I was married which seemed rather odd in the context of the reason I was calling. Obviously this trainer would not be a good fit for me. I am just looking for experts equipped with knowledge and experience to help me give this rescue his best life…

Alan has been a fantastic trainer for our Vizsla. She spent 2.5 months with him in total. From the moment we met, he showed his knowledge for the dogs, his work, and the sport. The training covered foundational and field aspects. He provided frequent updates on what he was working on, how the dog was progressing, and how you as the owner would interact with the dog. He also incorporated a walk through to transition that training to you as the owner. It was great to watch the progress and see Alan hone the dog’s abilities and confidence through his work. The facilities he uses to train and board the dogs are fantastic as well. The folks at Woodbine are friendly, professional, and maintain a very clean facility. We have even started to take our dog there for boarding sessions when needed. Looking forward to many great seasons with our dog and I highly recommend Alan if you are interested in upland dog training.
