Star Dog

We love this place! Genna and Andy are amazing trainers, and have helped us so much with our 8-month old puppy. We completed their puppy class a few months ago, have attended the agility class as well; both were super helpful with training and socialization, and always left Hamilton feeling happy and tired. The star dog team has helped us with all of our puppy questions, and have spent so much time and attention talking through things with us. Can't recommend this place enough!

We have used StarDog’s daycare, boarding and training services, and it is the only place we trust with our dogs! Andy (owner) and Genna are dog experts, and they recently trained our high energy, low-attention-span puppy to return to our home after I had leg surgery and was on crutches. Andy and Genna went above and beyond in customizing the care needed for our puppy, making it possible for us to bring the puppy home during my recovery. StarDog’s caring staff are absolutely the best people to trust with your four-legged family members!

Love Stardog! Genna has been wonderful in helping us train our new rescue pup, Lola. She has come such a long way after a few in-home sessions from being absolutely terrified of men (including my husband) to now loving people, understanding basic commands, and having a ton of confidence in herself. I would recommend them to anyone and look forward to continuing to use them for day camps and group classes! We can't thank you enough!

To all at Star Dog, you at GREAT at what you do. To Adam Smith, I don't think you reviewed the same place. If you had spent more time other than just having a short conversation you would have found out the following: Andy, Genna, Jerrell, Marcus, Conner, Mirna, Skye and the occasional others I have met there are actually very knowledgeable about dogs. Andy, the owner, has worked with and trained dogs for 25 years. He started Star Dog 10 years ago. He truly wants a facility that treats all dogs like they were his own. He is constantly working to improve Star Dog and it shows. Genna, the dog trainer, has a border collie who holds the North Carolina 2019 "Skyhoundz State Classic" championship 1st place title for freestyle/distance/accuracy. Mirna, the groomer, makes my golden retriever look fabulous. If you had spend more time other than just having a short conversation, you would have seen that those at Star Dog know what they are doing and they know dogs. When my golden was a puppy, she went through their puppy training classes held each week. She then went on to one of the basic training classes held two times a week. I then proceeded to have private lessons with Andy and Genna. When my golden was one year old, she went through a couple of boot camps for more extensive training which made a big difference in behavior. She is over 2 years old now and I understand my dog much better because of Andy and Genna. If you had stayed around longer than a short conversation, you would have noticed that there are areas where dogs of the same temperament are put together to play. When the dogs get tired or grumpy, there is yet another area where they can rest or be alone. Dogs get big buckets of water which is the very first place my golden runs to upon arrival. Sun screens are put up to help shield dogs from sun as well as having a covered shady area for them as well. As far as the construction area that you mentioned, Andy is constantly working to improve areas for the dogs. New walkways are being built as well as a new dog park area being created for clients of Star Dog. The area is constantly monitored and kept clean. In closing, I was a elementary school teacher for 36 years and just as we want all children to get along, sometimes they don't. Fights can start over the smallest of things and at the blink of an eye. Dogs are the same in this regard, fights can break out unexpectedly and quickly but there is no doubt in my mind that if this were to occur at Star Dog, there would be one, two, and three people there in a heartbeat. Life is unpredictable but my golden and I and many other dogs love Star Dog. I am so sorry your experience was not the same. I just don't think you spent the time necessary to learn what truly goes on there.
