My dog Cheddar and I absolutely adored working with Heather! At the first class, he was timid and nervous to play with the other pups because he had never been around other dogs before. Heather helped him break out of his shell and by the last class, he was one of the most playful pups in the group! He’s learned a lot of useful tricks and we are excited to continue working with Heather in future classes.

My little guy just finished a puppy manners class with Heather and it was a great experience! Heather was fantastic and comes highly recommended for training dogs of all ages. She was informative and patient with all the puppy chaos in class and presented the lessons in a fun and interactive way. My furbaby has learned so much in just a few weeks and so have I!! I feel I have new helpful tools to further train my pup on my own and I certainly plan to sign up for another class soon. St. Pete Dog Works was a wonderful facility to visit. It was a clean and comfortable training space with a pet store attached. There were high quality food, treat and toy options to choose from. All your dog/cat needs in one convenient place! My partner and I rescued a 3-month-old puppy, with a trauma history that presented with a tender soul and a whole lot of energy! Our dog, Maggie Mae, is a sweet, loving dog but had no impulse control; and she was strong and growing larger than we expected! As a couple who are both over 60, this presented risks as she could easily pull me over. Pet Works, and specifically Heather, changed our relationship with our dog by demonstrating her techniques and then teaching us what to practice each week. At our first visit to the Pet Works, we presented with Maggie tugging and fighting us on the walk in and both of us exhausted and frustrated. Luckily, Maggie is a smart student and we are also willing learners and practiced our skills every day. We watched Maggie learn each week and she has learned: Putting on the Harness: Prior to training we had to fight Maggie to put on her walking harness. She now sits very patiently because she understands the reward is her walk. “Leave it”—-she actually ignores squirrels, other dog, people, etc on command 75-80% of the time now (0% before and any stimuli she would strongly pull). “Touch”—this is Maggie’s favorite! At command she will touch us with her nose. It may sound silly but a few weeks ago, Maggie went out of our open gate and was “zoomy” in our alley. She did not respond to her name but when I called, “touch” she immediately ran to me and touched her nose to my hand. That served as a safety command. Of course, “sit”, “down”, “stay”, “come” and general greeting and leash skills. Maggie Mae is now 10 months old and she is smarter but (more importantly) we are. We are so satisfied with St Pete Dog Works that we would be willing to serve as a reference. Please just contact them and they will put us in touch. If we could give 10 stars we would, Heather. Dog Works is amazing!!! As is Heather Morris - our trainer - who is truly a dog whisperer. We enrolled our 12-week old puppy in the Off Leash Kindergarten class. Heather ensured that our 12-week old puppy was safe to participate at her age which was superb given how important it is to have a puppy in a training class as early as possible. Heather taught our puppies and us - as dog owners- so much - including how to play nicely with other dogs, basic commands such as sit, down, etc., how to motivate our dogs to walk nicely with a leash, and, importantly, how to have our puppy come when called. While there were many other lessons, Heather perfectly balanced our time to ensure our puppies, and parents, learned without the puppies becoming overtired. Heather was absolutely AMAZING with the puppies. We have already signed up for the next class and plan to do more after that one. Thank you Dog Works and Heather.
