Brought dog to be temperament tested - needs training. They stated they would develop a plan but the dog needed work so it would be expensive. We were willing to pay what was needed and trainer never called back. Followed up three times after visit and trainer kept making an excuse (out of town, etc) and would send plan and pricing to us when they returned but Never did. After three follow up attempts and never having a return call we sought out other trainers. I hate it because we had heard such great things about them. We just did not have the same experience that others had.

After 4 weeks he is still spunky but that’s fine that’s his personality. He obeys commands and walks with me well , is getting much better with my cats . He is a smart little boy!
Jarod came back 2 weeks later to see how Scotty was behaving in our home .He taught me a lot to reinforce what he learned in training . I am still working on it daily . Before we took Scotty home the trainers went over everything he learned and taught us as well . Our experience with Southern State K-9 was entirely positive. Jared and Liv were a pleasure to work with in every respect. They responded quickly to our questions and addressed all concerns fully and professionally. It was clearly apparent that our dog was handled with love and good care.
Our 3-year old pup had gone through training in the past but there were obstacles we couldn’t seem to get beyond. Primarily, this was reactivity to other dogs - mainly barking and bucking when encountering them while he was on the leash. It was extreme enough that he had pulled us each (both full grown adults) over and even injured one of us to the point we ended up at the ER.
He is almost like a different dog now. The reactivity has decreased enough so that we can go into situations we never would/could have before. He seems happier and more confident, and we are happier at being able to take him along.
As we continue to work with him, we know this will only get better and better. Jared and Liv have let us know they’re available to work with us further if and as needed. Their service has met and gone beyond our expectations.

Before training with Southern State K-9 Training, my German Shepherd (1.5 years old) was selective about listening to commands and reactive to other people and dogs. I chose Southern State K-9 because they were just as interested in training my wife and me as they were in training our dog.
We decided to do the one-month board-and-train program. Expectations were clearly set once we discussed everything that was going on. They were able to work on our dog’s specific issues and give her the confidence to succeed through them. They exceeded our expectations. Our dog is no longer immediately reactive to people or dogs. She is extremely obedient and loves to work more than ever.
Our dog was tested in real-world scenarios to show the results. She was taken into crowded areas and stores with zero reactivity and immediate responses to commands. For us, this has been life-changing, as we are now comfortable taking her anywhere we want to go.
Both Jared and Olivia were incredible throughout the entire process. They communicated effectively with consistent updates, even when our dog was struggling with certain things. I highly recommend their program for life-changing results for both you and your dog!
