Sky Soldier Dog Training

We are older and adopted a mature bully breed from the shelter. He was getting to be a handful so we signed up for training with Sky Soldier. Very happy with the results. A new command is taught each week and you have to practice and do your homework, but the results are worth it and carry over to all aspects of living with your dog in harmony. It is so nice to be able to put our dog in place and be able to have guests or contractors enter our home without chaos. We also walk him on leash and since we are in control he does not react to other dogs or things encountered. Worth the money spent to have this much improved relationship with our dog.

Meet Mooch- Mooch was one of the cutest black and white pitties I had stumbled across looking through post after post from various rescues vying for some pitiful soul to adopt their dogs. They got me. Just like they got me with my other two pretty pits. But don’t be fooled like I was by his looks and a nose you just want to (s)mooch. I started to notice reactivity and anxiousness before he was even six months old. As a responsible dog owner (or so I thought) of a breed that already receives so much scrutiny, I decided to board and train Mooch so these issues could be addressed. I was handed back a dog that could sit, down, place, stay, come, wait…the list goes on. He also had a fancy new ecollar. My husband and I got a brief run down on how to use it and about five minutes with the trainer to show off all Mooch’s new tricks. But after a while, we noticed he was still anxious and the reactivity seemed to escalate. If he even heard a dog on the other side of a fence, our walk turned into an actual battle. After ripping through several leashes and sending me to the ER for stitches, we sent him back to the trainer for another board and train session. But we got the same dog back. An angel in the house who could do anything you asked. He still came unglued at the sight or sound of another person or dog on our walks. Jumping up the leash, snapping and biting. I could feel the anxiety and tension just holding his leash. Maybe I was the anxious one? After a few bites from your own dog you start to dread walking out the door. And that’s how we existed for a while. In a constant state of stress. I really began to question how much longer we could go on like this- after moving to St Louis for work without my husband and trying to manage three dogs I came to a breaking point. Maybe one more board and train would fix Mooch. I found Brandon and Sky Soldier Dog Training online. The reviews were good and he had the option to do a free consultation- the last thing I wanted was to blindly handover my dog again and hope he comes back better. I thought the consultation was a disaster. Mooch was a monster, you’d never believe he’d already been through training twice. Perhaps Brandon saw something in Mooch though, and after an honest discussion on reasonable goals for us he offered in person training sessions. I can confidently say it was one of the best endeavors for Mooch and I- after just 5 sessions I’ve seen more progress than I (and probably Brandon?) thought possible. After 5 weeks, I have probably learned more than Mooch and that’s more than likely why he has been able to make such big changes. Understanding how to give corrections and knowing that the little mundane tasks Mooch and I took for granted, have an impact in moments on our walks. I can now slow down and be present on walks, knowing how to correct Mooch without a meltdown. We’ve built more trust on our walks now and even though we might have a few hiccups now and then, it is a foundation that we can continue to build on. I was very impressed with Brandon and his expertise and method of training. I have a young German short haired puppy and he was willing to start training him at just 4 weeks of age. This is a very energetic and driven breed and I feel he gave us the tools to succeed. Brandon was articulate, professional and his experience and successful methods were evident. We look forward to working with him in the future and wouldn’t hesitate to board and train down the road if we need more help.

Thanks to Sky Soldier Dog Training for the dramatic transformation of my dog's behavior. It is much appreciated. I inherited my son's dog, Ellie, in September and I was clueless as to how to handle an Australian Shepherd. I've only ever had cats. Boy, are they not the same!!! Brandon had to train me on how to handle Ellie. He started me off at the very beginning by learning place. From there we learned the basic fundamentals. Brandon also quickly realized that part of our problem was the incorrect collar. Once Ellie was fitted with the proper collar, she better responded to training. After five sessions, I am now able to safely walk her in the neighborhood and she is better at home. We still have a lot of at home training to do, but all the detailed emails and videos Brandon sent will be utilized and are much appreciated. Brandon is absolutely amazing. He helped us get a handle on Doss, our 3.5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog. Doss is such a lovebug with family and people he knows but is leash aggressive and reactive with strangers, in the car, and with people walking by the house. Brandon taught me the basics of training and made sure I knew what to do during and after each lesson for our homework. He has an honest and personal approach to training and is set on making sure everything is done correctly. We have seen such an enormous change in Doss!
