Sit Means Sit Dog Training - Western Chicago

I am a college student taking my doggy to the dorm room, and I was very nervous. My doggy Luna was dog and people aggressive, so I started looking for programs that could help my situation. I found sit means sit after going through multiple websites and making many phone calls to find the perfect fit for me and Luna. I was in contact with Sarah; Sarah was very patient and answered all my questions and concerns. I signed up for board and training, and dropping off Luna made me very anxious; while leaving Luna at Camp K9, Sarah sent many updates and pictures to ease my anxiety. When I picked up Luna after her board and training, I could notice the differences. Luna loved Sarah and made friends while being away from home, as well as learned many commands. I feel more comfortable and confident bringing Luna to the dorm. Thank you for the fantastic experience, and I'll see you guys at group classes 🥰

I’m writing this review, which I usually don’t do, in hopes to help someone else think before they jump into e-collar training. As a first time dog owner at 21 years old, I thought this type of training after googling would be good for my dog because she had poor manners and a little bit of aggression. What nobody told me about this company is that the collars that they claim to “not hurt the dog”, in fact can do damage. No matter how loose I made a collar on my dog her neck would start bleeding almost every day if I used it. Although the owner of this establishment and trainers were very nice people, I urge you to try and re-search positive reinforcement training before you utilize negative reinforcement training with your dog. I’m not saying that this training doesn’t work, I am sure that they have thousands of happy customers and well behaved dogs, however, if your dog has any sign of aggression, I do not personally believe negative reinforcement is going to help them out of that. If you do you have an aggressive dog, I urge you to speak with your vet about using a vet behaviorist to help your dog instead of negative reinforcement.I also want to add, I did not do any of the group trainings after my dogs neck started bleeding from this collar & her aggression just continually got worse - I personally (we are all entitled to our own opinions!), do not believe in this training program.

My Belgian malinois Buzz was very reactive towards other dogs and had snapped at a child’s hand before we decided additional training was necessary for him. My wife and I chose to train with the Sit Means Sit team in may of 22. Kerry and her teams training program was exactly what Buzz and I needed. Just 7 months later, I can confidently take my dog anywhere and know that he will be focused on me when told. Sit means Sit gives us the opportunities to socialize and reinforce the training with their group classes. Buzz also loves his additional ‘change of leadership training’ that allows him to get used to day camp with a one on one trainer without me being a distraction. I can now confidently leave him at day camp. Best of all, my 9 year old niece practices training with buzz when she visits. Kerry, Sarah, and the Sit Means Sit team has helped and continues to go out of their way to make Buzz a great dog.

After looking and researching many different training programs, I found this by chance. Sit Means Sit, by far EXCEEDED all my expectations. Kerry and Sarah are absolutely amazing in what they do! Board and train plus a YEAR of training classes is unheard of. I was skeptical because the cost seemed “too affordable” to be effective, but it’s clear that they are undercharging for an AMAZING service! They truly care about you and your dog’s success. I would have paid double for what I have received and my big boy rescue, Copper, isn’t even the same dog. I’ve seen wonders to what can be out of dogs that other facilities have turned away. I rarely write reviews but I was compelled from the outcome in such a short time. Yes, YOU need to be consistent in training your dog and yes, you need to be realistic based on your dog and their needs, but you can expect results in hopeless situations. Not only does Copper have a better quality of life, but so does our family! You won’t regret taking this step!
