Sit Means Sit Dog Training Madison

Wow! Best investment I ever made for my dog Apollo. We did the 3 day day camp program, and even after the 1st day there was such a noticeable improvement. By the end of day 3, I had a whole new dog! Apollo is a super energetic lab with crazy lab energy and even though I had him in training classes when he was a puppy and we consistently worked on training for the 2.5 years before I took him to Sit Means Sit, I was really struggling with keeping Apollo focused on me around distractions. If you have a Lab, you know how they are when they get laser focused on something... he's the typical lab. No matter how many treats/toys/praise/everything else I offered, it was impossible to get his attention back after he locked on. Even going on walks was stressful since I knew if we passed another dog Apollo would start freaking out and he'd be stressed out/overexcited for the entire rest of the walk. Sit Means Sit did an amazing job of giving both Apollo and myself the tools we needed to overcome that struggle and work through it. As with every training program, I think it's important to have realistic expectations for the amount of work you need to put in individually outside of classes. The day camp program isn't something where you just drop your dog off and they do all the work - you've gotta be willing to make that time and energy commitment to your dog to practice and reinforce skills, but the SMS program made progressing and working on that practice a million times easier. I was a little hesitant about the program at first because the thought of leaving my dog with a stranger for e-collar training, but Brenna was EXTREMELY professional and took amazing care of Apollo. Her dog was definitely a testament to the success of the methodology and seeing how well she treated her helped ease some of my stress. If you're on the fence I'd without a doubt say that you should go for it. This program has completely changed our lives and opened up so many new places we can go to and things we can do now that I can trust Apollo to behave and handle almost any situation without any stress. 10/10 would do this again in an instant!

Our family has benefited so much from our experience at Sit Means Sit. Our consultation with Mike was very helpful to talk about our needs with our 4 year old Goldendoodle , Tucker. Our biggest problem was his resource guarding with people and items he thought were ‘his.’ Paige was amazing with setting up our schedule and making sure it worked well for us. Tuck had 4 individual lessons with Josh and we immediately started to see a change, even after the first couple. We changed some things we were doing at home as well and it all really made a difference. Mike would often stop in during our one on one lessons and was always very encouraging. We can’t say enough about Josh. He was simply the best with being very patient, understanding, and giving lots of positive reinforcement to us and Tuck. He always made sure we didn’t leave our lesson until we were comfortable on what to work on with Tuck for the coming week. We would get a detailed daily report card and videos on the days Tuck went to his training from Josh. We knew what Josh worked on with Tuck and how he did before we came for our lesson with Tuck to practice things. Although we are done with our individual lessons, we look forward to trying some of the group lessons now. Both Brenna and Josh were absolutely wonderful. They were extremely kind, patient, and supportive when it came to training my 11 month old puppy. During my consultation with Mike he was very polite and understanding about my concerns. Paige was very understanding and helpful when I had to reschedule a session due to my pup getting injured while at home. I cannot recommend this training business enough. HUGE thank you to Josh and Brenna for everything they’ve done to support me and my puppy!

Our German Shepherd pup, Reyna Storm absolutely loved her trainer Brenna, & so did we!!! From the get go meeting with Mike & signing her up to having to reschedule our start date with Paige, who was willing to talk to us on the phone when Stormy unexpectedly started her first cycle just before she was supposed to start training, to actually training with Brenna! Everybody was so thoughtful & responsive to Stormy & us! Their professionalism & safety of the pups was very obviously a top priority & made us feel so comfortable leaving our baby in their care! Their attention to how we can best continue her training at home & willingness to keep in contact after our first sessions make us excited to keep coming back for refreshers, group classes, & even with our older pup! Highly recommend!!!
