What people have asked about this business.
Do you offer board and train programs?
At our Rochester Hills facility, we have a beautiful Immersion Inn for our board and train program. It's a clean, intimate setting, holding a maximum of 18 dogs. Our rooms at the Inn frequently book weeks in advance for our board and train programs. We have programs of different lengths, depending on the needs of your dog and family. A trainer will be happy to discuss the options with you during your free consultation.

It gives you a chance to see our 8,500 square foot facility and to meet with a member of our team who will give you a recommendation about which of our training programs will fit the needs of your family best.

Does this company use electric collars for training?
Yes.. however do your research when looking at all forms of training... When I was a client, they offered demonstrations and explanations so you can evaluate their methods.

If you want a happy and healthy relationship with your dog you WILL come here! They saved my GSD's life. He came to us unsocialized at two years old, and he was terribly fear aggressive - other forms of training made him worse.
Don't believe anyone who says collar training is harmful. PEOPLE are harmful - and those who misuse a collar, will misuse any other form of training too.

I have found that electric collars get a bad reputation because of inappropriate use. Sit Means Sit teaches using the collar as an attention getter like a tap on the shoulder - not as punishment. A lot of praise and positive reinforcement is recommended. The dogs are happy and excited to learn and to please. My experience and observation confirms how humane this collar can be if used correctly.

Initially we were not too keen on a dog training place that used an e-collar but I did sign up for their training as they came highly recommended by many, to give us the results that we were looking for. And at the end of 3 weeks of intense training I can say we made the best decision ever. Each and every trainer was amazing and ensured that we understood (really ensured) how they worked our dog . The training gave us the necessary tools for us to feel confident with our dog in different scenarios.....this was gold. Would highly recommend spending the days off between training (even if it is a few minutes) to go over the commands introduced to your dog and share your challenges/wins with the trainers ,before the next class. The trainers were ever willing to help with any questions and provide solutions. It was a commitment for sure but a very rewarding one ,both for us and our dog.

Clearly Phoebe has no experience with training collars. Our dog went to Sit Means Sit for training and I can't tell you how excited she gets when we get her collar out. Training for her is like play time and she loves it. I have tried the collar on personally and can tell you from first hand experience it does not hurt.

My dog Wally did puppy class and the immersion training here, which I will be doing with all of my future dogs. I cannot recommend the immersion training enough. While he was there, I got frequent picture and video updates on how he was doing and what he was learning, and when I picked him up, there was and continues to be so much support and education in continuing the training at home. Wally has become such a well-trained dog, and one of my main goals was reliable off-leash training as Wally and I are now moving to Colorado. He will be a great partner for off-leash hiking, as his recall is perfect and I can trust him to quickly go into a sit or down if I need him to. His heel on a leash is drastically improved, and place training has worked so well for keeping him controlled when guests come over. Every trainer at Sit Means Sit is so knowledgeable and personable, and Wally and I will miss you all!!

Excellent training staff and facilities. Nick and his team really did an amazing job training our dog Rex. Shopped around at first and could not find a location that would put the time and effort into training Rex like Sit Means Sit did. At one point we were not even able to use a kennels for care if we were going to be out of town. Rex is now able to be kenneled at multiple locations and most importantly we do not have to worry about him being aggressive with others.

I love the goal of training your dog so that she can join you on as many family outings as possible. Our dog’s trainers, Alvie and Megan, have been wonderful to work with and have trained both our canine and us :D the entire team has really been very responsive and great to work with. Right away our dog made significant progress on her goals (harmony with feline, eliminate play nipping, heeling on leash, getting into things), and we felt empowered as owners to continue the training at home with her. Midway through immersion training we were able to bring her with us on a 2-mile fundraising walk in downtown Detroit. She walked alongside a large throng of people and other dogs, and even remained attentive through blaring music and loud sirens etc. It’s truly a dream come true to be able to take our furry family member with us almost anywhere. The cost is definitely premium compared to other programs; however, it is effective and you are equipped to maintain the training for the life of your pet. Depending on your package you also have access to additional refresher and maintenance lessons! Thank you Sit means Sit! :)
