Sit Means Sit Dog Training Chicago

After 4 weeks of our puppy gone for some SERIOUS dog training.....our Miller is back! A dog who escaped six times, never came when you called his name, continuous barker, and always ready to run is now transformed into our quiet, mellow, and calm puppy. Miller comes on demand and places when he needs to be placed!!! THANK YOU Ryan for your 135 hrs. of tireless work with my "pain in the ass" dog!!!!!! First about me and my dog: I have an 80 lb bloodhound mix that it was getting to the point where I couldn't walk him any longer. He was too strong for me to hold as he was lunging at trees, squirrels and whatever else he had felt like. I would end up extremely frustrated or injured from our walks. He also became unpredictably aggressive and protective if he was startled by people. We were getting too close to the point of him biting someone's skin. I was reluctant at first about the ecollar but after a consult with Alexa and seeing the collar for myself, I decided this was the best route to take. I started with a Sit Means Sit board and train, and after that a whole new world was opened up for me and my dog! I finally had a dog that listened! From there, we have done group classes and I have continued on with the training to the point where my dog is now a certified therapy dog with SMS guidance. This has been a several year journey for me and my dog as I have enjoyed watching him evolve into this amazing well behaved fun dog! I owe our success to Alexa and her team of trainers for giving me and my dog the tools and confidence to succeed! About the SMS Team: Alexa is a great leader and it shows in her team as well as her dogs. The team that is in place today are all the nicest people! They care about the clients. They make the classes fun and are patient when trying to help when I am stuck on how to teach a new trick. Because my dog has such a bond with the team at SMS, I board my dog there when I travel. My dog LOVES it there; It is a home away from home for him. To have a peace of mind that my dog is safe and being taken care of when I am away is priceless to me!! If you are considering SMS and your goal is to have an awesome dog - my recommendation is to go all in! Do the board and train and the classes for life. What you put into it, you will get out of it! You will not be disappointed!

100% the best thing we ever did for our two dogs and ourselves was getting in touch with Ryan and Sit Means Sit. Our rescue terrier mix, Derby, was terrible on walks, not to mention if a squirrel happened to cross our path, the tugging on the leash was unbearable. He also had a problem with jumping on our guests when they would come over. And then our Australian Cattle Dog rescue, Streeter, was terrified of everyone. Walks with him would be draining if any neighbors were outside. Streeter would constantly bolt in the opposite direction, scared to even walk by a stranger, especially children. I did some research online and found wonderful reviews on Sit Means Sit. I filled out a contact form online and Ryan got in touch with me quickly. He set up an hour to come to the house and discuss the issues we were having, meet the dogs, and review the different training programs he offered. We decided that Derby needed a 2 week board and train while Streeter would take a full 3 weeks or possibly longer. We were going on a trip anyway so it made it an easier decision to send the dogs away for such a long period of time. While they were there, Ryan would text us with updates, pictures, and videos to let us know how they were doing. We felt so confident leaving our pups in his care. When we were ready to get them, we had a lesson right away on how to continue the training, how to use their collars, etc. We learned all the commands that Ryan had been using. He answered our questions and even had us practice while we were still there. We have had multiple private lessons in our home since picking them up from boarding just to follow-up and answer any new questions we’ve had as we introduce the pups to new training scenarios. The improvement in both dogs has been AMAZING. We are able to walk them at the same time. We can even walk them off leash! Derby still sees the squirrels in the yards but telling him “off” will keep him focused on the walk and he won’t pull or run away. Streeter has learned to trust us and just stays nearby when we walk by strangers. He still has the fear (I don’t know that that will ever go away), but he is able to control it now. Walks are honestly pleasurable with both dogs. We will have another big test in the coming months with our young niece and nephew visiting, it will be the first time young kids are staying over at the house. But we are confident that things will go well thanks to Ryan and Sit Means Sit. I would recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone with a dog that needs any sort of training – from just minor obedience to dogs with full on aggression or other behavioral issues. Best money we’ve ever spent on our dogs. When we adopt more dogs in the future, I can guarantee that Ryan and Sit Means Sit will be the first call we make. We also use them for boarding our dogs now when we are traveling. We have complete trust in Ryan and feel very comfortable leaving the dogs in his care while we are out of town.

This will be the most important review I ever do. Sit Means Sit is the best decision I have ever made. Franklin is my just shy of two years old, giant Great Dane baby! Franklin needed some serious guidance! I found that guidance in Alexa, Christa and the entire staff at Sit Means Sit. My biggest concern in searching for the right training method, and program for Franklin was simply that I didn't want him to change. I love that he's silly and a little wild at times. What I quickly learned from Sit Means Sit was that they weren't going to change him. They were going to teach him, but more importantly, teach me! I'm not going to explain how their whole program works, because they will. They will come to you, free-of-charge and quickly show you how much they want to help you have a completely different relationship with your dog. I will say, the most impressive part of the Sit Means Sit program is that it is for life. Once going through their program, you and your pet are invited to come back weekly to group classes FOR FREE, FOR LIFE. How can this be beat? I am so utterly thankful, for having found Sit Means Sit.
