I am told this place trains with shock collar on all its dogs, even before the dog learns commands. Is this true?

Hey Jennylee, my name is Anthony and I own our Denver location. Call it what you like but the modern tech and modern, attention-based approach is very different than a past mindset of “shock collar” or training. More trainers and people are exploring and using collars now than ever because of the advancement and evolution. You’re welcome to visit with us personally for free and educate and then judge for yourself what makes sense. We’ve been at it for 20 years, so the system, technique and results are really well documented.

They don't call it a shock collar since they use it for "positive reinforcement", but yes. It's definitely a shock collar. They will also recommend your dog to wear it at all times.

We train any dog, any age, any problem! We'll start puppies as early as 8-10 weeks and grow them for life; we've had 12 year old dogs come for training too! And we purposely located outside of Denver so we don't have breed restrictions.

It depends on the dog and specific needs! They will give you a free consultation where they meet you and the dog! My dog did one week boarding. Total was $1850.

Laura, I'm presuming you have our Sit Means Sit collar which also has a lifetime warranty! So, if the controller is not functioning, the manufacturer will repair or replace. If you've lost it call our office and we can coordinate getting you a new one. Numbers are listed in Google profile.

Our pup has been with Sit Means Sit since she was a puppy and we just celebrated her 1st bday together in a group! One of her trainers, Nicole, even gave her a bag of bday goodies (see pic)! She enjoys coming to her weekly Saturday group classes where she meets her buddies while honing in on her commands with the distraction of other dogs. I see her improving every week! Nicole and Ed have both been great trainers and I highly recommend Sit Means Sit!

Recommend. Anthony and his team are helping our family improve our dog skills for sure. We found our newest family member at the denver animal shelter. Great personality, minimal skills, no chill when overenthusiastically meeting other dogs and humans. Anthony helped screen and personality test our english bulldog/pit mix. We then did boarded training. We are still working on getting the humans up to par. Sit means sit staff have been patient and accessible. We are committed to adopting adult dogs, so I'm glad to finally improve our skills as dog humans. I like that their program is simple, positive, and straightforward. Big dawg on the right is ours.

My partner and I rescued an Australian Cattle Dog from a shelter and enrolled him at Sit Means Sit for a 5 day board and train. He loves working and with the work we had put in before SMS, he was doing really well, but had a major setback around the 4th of July. He would also have an initial reaction to most dogs he saw, even if he wasn’t trying to start a fight, seeing a dog would get him worked up. When we did our class at pickup after board and train it was insane to see the amount of progress our pup had made. He was in a room with multiple dogs, and he couldn’t care less about them. He was so focused and ready to be given a job. After our 2nd follow up, we have made the most progress with Bandit. Nicole at SMS showed us better ways to communicate with Bandit, while using the E-Collar and our bodies. Since then, he has been to a farmers market where he stayed in a heel the whole time, sat until released every time we stopped moving, and the only reactions he had to other dogs were when 2 other dogs came at him and reacted first. But otherwise, Bandit didn’t care about other dogs, he just wanted to be working. And he was sure proud of himself. Sit Means Sit has helped us give our pup the confidence he needs and the tools to make sure that we all enjoy the time we spend together. SMS has truly changed our relationship with our dog and we are excited to continue working and see how much more progress he can make. (picture is after an hour long off-leash training session)
