Sensitive Dog

Julie has been super helpful for us and our dog, Poppy. We recently moved up to the area and were looking for a new trainer to help us with our pup's reactivity, built up energy, and confidence. After just one session, Julie quickly identified what was triggering her behavior. She guided us through breaking down Poppy’s built-up frustration and showed us ways to give her healthy outlets for her energy. Julie clearly cares so much about the dogs and their parents. We were looking for a trainer who would take the time to understand Poppy's quirks and not just put us in a one size fits all training model. Julie is exactly that. She got to know Poppy and all of her layers and truly just made all of us feel so seen and supported. We've already seen a ton of progress with Poppy and are planning to do a 4 week program with her come January so we can't wait to continue working with her. If you’re looking for someone who truly understands dogs and takes the time to get to know you, Julie is the one!

Julie was absolutely the person we needed. Her methods and philosophy just made so much sense to us and you could see it in the way our dog responded to her direction and training. In one session, we gained so much more knowledge and understanding about our dog. We feel much more connected. Julie's techniques and training methods taught us how we can develop a better connection with our dog. Learning it is okay to give correction when done correctly was beneficial. It was so eye opening for us because we had been with previous trainers who only offered positive reinforcement which did not did not work for our dog. Julie's training taught us it is okay to give correction and to say "NO" as long as it was done correctly. We could see the immediate response and control we had with our dog and it was not done at all in a negative way. We feel like we have a better foundation from which to grow with our dog and for that we are so thankful and appreciative. Stan and Teresa and of course Hondo!

It is not possible to say enough good things about the team at Sensitive Dog. Julie really puts in the effort to learn about your dog and your specific situation. She coordinates a comprehensive plan that you can walk out the door with to achieve the best outcome for you and your dog. We had sought advice from other behaviorists and Julie is the only one that gave us real, tangible solutions and help. Our dog has been struggling since being rescued, but within 5 minutes being in Julie's presence, our dog chilled right out and felt like a normal (non-traumatized) dog, it was so wonderful to see and gave us a lot of hope for our future with her. My two, two-year old Klee Kai littermates unexpectedly lost their owner (my Dad) and were so distraught they started lunging at and biting people who came into their home, and aggressively barking at guests who would sit in my Dad’s chair. They were clearly stressed and distraught, and their behavior transformed almost overnight despite having no history of aggression. After three biting incidents in the first week after my Dad’s passing, I reached out to Julie and Darcie in desperation and they were an extraordinary source of support for both the pups and me. The tools we practiced and learned in our six sessions not only quickly returned the pups to their normal disposition, but have also greatly improved their day-to-day behavior at home, receptiveness of strangers, and comfort with going out in public. They’ve recently moved in with me and have adjusted to their new home fantastically, which I credit to the tools and tactics we learned in training. Julie really went above and beyond to support and help the pups and me through what has been the worst days of all our lives, and it’s an act in which I will forever be extremely grateful. Sensitive Dog will be our only stop for any and all future training needs.
