Sensitive Dog

I really appreciated the space held for me and my concerns about how I 'paw parent' my rescue dog/foster fail whom I'm trying to give a great foundation for a life as a happy, well-behaved doggo. Julie worked with me and my doggo to teach us both what to do around his reactivity on leash and to people, as well as some other issues. The email follow-up is a TREASURE TROVE of resources many of which we discussed in the session. If you can, invest in this service and you may not need much else in terms of interventions/coaching!

Maud is a three-year-old bordoodle. When I first brought her to Sensitive Dog, she was 8 months old. She was exuberant, high energy and wild-eyed with a mind of her own. Darcie Boltz, who, in my mind, is a bright and spirited dog whisperer—taught with a combined approach of graciousness and no-nonsense that allowed Maud to be herself while eagerly responding to command, gesture and tone of voice. It was over two years ago that Maud and I found ourselves at Sensitive Dog under Darcie’s tutelage. We have never been the same since. With knowledge, skill, humor, wisdom and deep attunement, Darcie worked with us with an open heart and a firm stance. She taught Maud to thrive on clear direction and genuine praise and admiration. Darcie understands the nuances of breed, temperament and personality. She knows and communicates with dogs on multiple levels: body, mind, emotion, spirit. I, too, was being trained on so many levels. In witnessing Darcie in relationship with Maud, I learned how to be a good and consistent leader/mentor and a faithful source of affirmation. I learned how to tune in to Maud’s instincts and capacities….and to tap into the soul of my canine companion. Over these two years I have checked in with Darcie from time to time and consulted about developmental and behavioral changes. She has always been there for us—100%. She knows us both and she has an innate knowledge of the spirit that connects us. At three years, Maud is very well-mannered, gentle and responsive. Darcie has helped her develop these qualities while respecting and delighting in her exuberant energy and enthusiasm for life.

Our experience with Julie’s training our 4 year old Golden Retriever Dublin was extraordinary in every respect. She brings a confident,positive,very experienced approach, style and method in training both us and our wonderful Dublin. The three of us made amazing strides in the time we spent training with Julie. We and Dublin are calmer, wiser and much more at ease interacting with each other, other people and other dogs. And, thanks to Julie’s guidance, optimism and confidence that we and Dublin could do this: Dublin now sleeps happily in his crate thru the night, we are now able to take walks that we all enjoy. Gone is the excessive pulling and lunging and becoming overly excited. Dublin is able to “leave” things that he should never get, he “comes”when we call him, he “waits”when we need him to, and he knows “place” where he goes to when needed. The written materials that Sensitive Dog uses in its training are exceptional and bring to life the philosophy and techniques of their training as well as being a great resource to review as we live out the training. We couldn’t be happier with everything we learned with Julie. We highly recommend Sensitive Dog to anyone seeking a fuller, calmer and more relaxed and confident relationship with their dog.
