FirstBarkI am so pleased with the results from Salty Dogs with my gal Tessa! She is a rescue with a rough past plus I changed her name. I had little to no control and she had escaped three times in the first year. Today she has good recall, full name recognition, almost a dozen commands and is just happier than ever, thank you!

Educating dogs and empowering owners throughout the Blue Hill Peninsula, Ellsworth/MDI, Belfast and Downeast Maine. Founded by Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, Whitney Thurston, our focus is on quality training that helps you truly connect with your dog. We offer general obedience training and group classes as well as day training and customized private training plans. Additionally, Whitney Thurston, CDBC, is one of the only certified dog behaviorists in Maine and is able to help with behavior modification for aggressive and fearful behavior dogs.

Salty Dogs Obedience Adventure in Surry Maine is a wonderful & perhaps the best training experience I have had with puppy/dog training. I was happy to find Whitney who had experience in training difficult dogs. She came to my home for a consult and set up a plan for me to address the issue of arousal biting with my one yr old pup. She explained things so clearly, listened attentively to me, and embraced my relationship with my dog. I have since been working on the training tips and am making progress. I highly recommend Salty Dogs!!
Overall it was a good experience. I would seek out other training classes offered by Salty Dogs.
The trainers at Salty Dogs are so wonderful. My reactive, complicated girl looks forward to each session, and has made major progress in her time there.

She has been with Salty Dogs Maine Canine Academy for about 10 months now and she LOVES going to school! She has learned so much and the confidence that she has gained and the training that we have received has brought out the good dog that was always inside her. I can’t say enough about the trainers and the work that they do.
