Rucker Dog Training

We’re big fans of Rucker Dog Training, Scot’s family and the crew there. I’ve known Scot for the past 10 years and found him to always be consistent, calm, and genuinely interested in helping others… keeping folks honest with his entertaining humor and imparting confidence in both the humans and pups he works with. I’ve participated in Scot’s program successfully with multiple Cane Corso’s, from group training pups to board & train, to kenneling… and highly recommend Rucker’s to all our adoptive families. We trust Ruckers with our pups and believe he is a great role model for our children and community.

I have thought about this review for a very long time and have struggled to find the appropriate words of gratitude to Scot and the crew at Rucker dog training. Our dear boy is deaf and we suspect he was abused because he was no longer a source of income for his irresponsible breeder. Not only is he deaf but he WAS extremely reactive and at 110lbs I would be lying if I told you I had control over him. After a potentially dangerous encounter we decided we were well beyond our scope of expertise and sought out advice from a professional. We could not have found a better match for us. Scot took every precaution to ensure the safety of not only others but our dog as well. He gives easy to understand instructions, encourages you to attend other classes if you would like, video tape your classes and incidents you are having at home so he can properly asses it and work with you and your dog. NOW……if you are looking for someone to make you feel good about your poor dog handling skills and training techniques this place might not be the place for you BUT some of our situations are serious enough that we need “tough love”. We do e-collar train but I can walk my deaf dog OFF LEAD and he responds better to me than most hearing dogs. It is HARD work and something that requires a lifetime commitment but the work you put into it you will reap 10 fold. Our big boy is working on being a well balanced, social giant who will one day not only be an ambassador for his breed but one for deaf dogs as well. Please dont think your job ends after your 5 week class is done. Sign up for another class and keep advancing. Keep establishing that relationship with you and your dog. It’s so worth it. Rucker is the absolute best that there is when it comes to training and boarding your dogs. We have two boys who absolutely thrived in their training program and our biggest guy loves returning to them any time he needs to be boarded. We rescued our Great Dane from their foster program and could not be happier with the care he received (and continues to receive) from Rucker. We are always so pleased with the personalized care and attention they give the dogs while they are staying under the Rucker roof. We honestly could not ever say enough about how wonderful this place and team is.
