For anyone contemplating CGC (or any training) with Rising Starr K9, here’s our brief story: Before attending CGC training, I brought Otto (now 1 y/o) to dog school for months to learn the basics (sit, stay, place, walk on a leash). He was great during dog school, but I couldn’t get Otto to perform these skills at home with any consistency. He was also virtually uncontrollable in public. I made excuses....like it was his “puppy brain.” Or, due to Vizslas being considered a very high-energy breed. After the first CGC class, I realized the issue was primarily my handling of Otto as he was capable of doing the work. Classes covered the basics, but we also learned new skills together in class and practiced at home: down, stay, greeting other dogs appropriately, leave it, and more. As a veteran, I choose to support veteran-owned businesses first. Rising Starr K9 is veteran-owned, but Rick is also unparalleled in the industry given his knowledge and expertise working with dogs and in my case tactfully training humans. :) Another notable benefit of the CGC class was observing and learning from other dogs' and owners' unique challenges. Rick enabled a very positive and supportive environment for learning and success for all. Rising Starr's CGC class has helped me become more confident in my abilities with Otto at home and in public. He now goes everywhere with me that dogs are permitted, and our relationship has strengthened. I've even been complimented on how well he behaves in public! We are also expecting a baby next month, and I can't imagine this transition without Rising Starr K9....it's priceless. I highly recommend this class to anyone wanting to brush up on the basics, learn new skills, and improve your overall relationship with your dog. Rising Starr K9 also offers individual training, so there's no excuse! After getting the baby settled, we are excited to continue our training journey with RS K9! Thank you!!!
