Do I need puppy training?

It is imperative for puppies to receive proper foundation training. This is particularly important during the critical period which occurs from birth to 16 weeks. During this time puppies should be exposed to as much of the world as possible. Although we understand that they are still very immature and not capable of advanced behaviors it is during this time that puppies can be taught how to learn. Once they understand this process, using a marker based system, they can easily learn throughout their life!

What does our board and train entail?

Training starts immediately upon arrival for a board and train. Dogs will be taught a marker based system of learning. They will be taken out in the community several days a week and during this time they will be required to be neutral to their environment. Throughout training, we will continue to add in distance, duration and distraction to proof all commands and ensure a calm state of mind. We do not believe in one standard training method for all dogs. We will work with owners to build a program to meet the specific needs of their dog and family. We make ourselves available throughout training to answer any questions and alleviate any concerns. We pride ourselves on our transparency and dedication to keeping owners up to date and informed on the progress of training.

Jeff is the real deal. We sent Leo for a 3-week board and train and every concern we had was met with total confidence — “we can fix that” — and he did, every time. I don’t think there’s an issue this guy hasn’t seen in a dog. He sent daily videos throughout the stay showing actual progress. Not fluff, real results you could see. Despite all the work and learning the new rules, Leo’s tail was wagging in every video. He looked like he had a blast. Jeff has an awesome, safe, fenced in property as well. Your dog won’t come home perfect — ongoing training is still on you — but Jeff builds a rock solid foundation and makes sure you know how to carry it forward. Even makes himself available to you post training for questions and concerns. Worth every penny. Thank you Jeff and Ridgeside K9 for taking Leo!

Just got our dog back from a 3 week board and train. Cori did an amazing job with him. He's stubborn but she worked right though that and was able to correct problems we've had since day one. Couldn't recommend more.

We did a two week board and train with Kayla for our new puppy Tripp. I cannot speak more highly of her and how intelligent she is. She has turned our puppy into a well mannered dog & made our life so much easier. She kept in contact the entire two weeks with texts, pics & videos. Thanks to Kayla he now has the basic structure he needs to be an amazing dog. I would recommend her to anyone looking and cannot thank her enough!! 10/10 recommend.

Life is always stressful with a puppy, but it is infinitely less stressful when you have a well-trained one! I cannot recommend Cori and Ridgeville K9 more highly!

We had an incredible experience working with Jeff at Ridgeside  for our dog, Goose. Before training, Goose struggled with dog aggression and some people aggression, which made everyday situations stressful and unpredictable. After completing the four-week training program, the transformation has been amazing. Goose is now responsive to commands, much more focused, and no longer shows the aggressive behaviors he once had. It’s honestly been life-changing for both him and our household. What really stood out was that Jeff didn’t just train Goose—he trained me too. I was given clear, practical guidance on how to handle Goose, reinforce his training, and maintain his obedience long-term. That support made all the difference in helping us succeed after bringing Goose back home. I highly recommend Jeff to anyone dealing with behavioral challenges in their dog. His knowledge, patience, and commitment truly show in the results.
