It is imperative for puppies to receive proper foundation training. This is particularly important during the critical period which occurs from birth to 16 weeks. During this time puppies should be exposed to as much of the world as possible. Although we understand that they are still very immature and not capable of advanced behaviors it is during this time that puppies can be taught how to learn. Once they understand this process, using a marker based system, they can easily learn throughout their life!

Training starts immediately upon arrival for a board and train. Dogs will be taught a marker based system of learning. They will be taken out in the community several days a week and during this time they will be required to be neutral to their environment. Throughout training, we will continue to add in distance, duration and distraction to proof all commands and ensure a calm state of mind. We do not believe in one standard training method for all dogs. We will work with owners to build a program to meet the specific needs of their dog and family. We make ourselves available throughout training to answer any questions and alleviate any concerns. We pride ourselves on our transparency and dedication to keeping owners up to date and informed on the progress of training.

Cannot recommend Ridgeside K9, and more specifically Jillian, enough! We did a 3 week board and train for our 11 month old golden retriever, Maggie. Maggie needed to work on her excited puppy nature and learn some manners towards other dogs and people, as well as gain confidence in this big, loud, and scary world. Jillian took Maggie on many outings as well as teaching her the importance of settling and being respectful in the home (if you know puppy golden retriever zoomies, you know). Jillian’s communication was excellent, she was so responsive and sent daily photos/videos with explanations of what she was doing and why. She has also been so thorough and helpful during and after our “go home lesson” to answer any questions we have. We have already noticed a difference in Maggie, we are so thankful to Jillian for all her hard work and love to our girl.

We were embarrassed to take her in public with her behaviors. She is currently lying in her place and hasn’t broke at all. Her recall is so good. Her walking, obedience, and interaction around other dogs is so good. Jillian also was so good with her communication with us. And answered all our questions before we could even ask them! I would recommend this to every person who owns a dog.

We had an amazing experience with Ridgeside K9 Training through their board and train program, and our trainer Cori was incredible—so communicative, professional, and truly invested in our dog’s progress. Our dog already knew the basics but struggled with attention and anxiety, and Cori made a huge difference with practical, real-life training that delivered noticeable results. We loved the consistent updates and how supported we felt throughout the process, and the transition back home was seamless thanks to her guidance.
