Red Star Kennel

Our German Shepherd, Max, was 18 months when we took him to stay with Irina and the Red Star Kennel staff in the spring of 2011. Although Max is a locally bred GSD, we got him from a rescue and he had developed some bad behaviors. We picked him up six weeks later and he had undergone an incredible transformation under the professional training of Irina and others at Red Star. We highly recommend Red Star and will definitely bring our next dog there for training.

Irina and her team fulfilled their promise to train our year old rescued German Shepherd in basic obedience, with an emphasis on heeling and staying nearby when off leash. In addition, our dog was generally more settled and less skittish after spending four weeks at Red Star. This calmer disposition and the response to commands continues to be effective three months later. Trainers and dogs spend time together daily. Training takes place in a variety of environments around the community as well as at the training facility--an excellent way to acclimate dogs to a variety of conditions. The goal is to teach them to respond to commands no matter where they are--a good thing for dogs and owners alike. Facilities are well maintained and provide ample space for dogs to exercise and play with other dogs. Red Star was recommended to us by a friend whose dog was terrified of cars after being hit by one. It was paralyzed with fear any time it was near a vehicle. They had worked with multiple trainers to overcome the dog's extreme anxiety without success, but Irina effectively addressed the problem. We are very glad to have found Irina. This was an excellent investment for us and our dog.
