“We've had an exceptional dog training experience with Louise Belmont!” Louise is a fantastic dog trainer. Her ability to understand and address dog behavior issues is straight-up remarkable. She's tackled each challenge presented by our dog with skill, while patiently guiding us through training obstacles and issues. Previously, our rescue dog, Marco was frightened and hyper-vigilant. After we started working with Louise, learning her approach, and consistently applying her training methods, Marco began to improve right away. Now he's walking on his leash without pulling or freezing up, remaining calm around our guests and with strangers outside, and he's stopped barking at street traffic at home (Yessss!). He loves training and continues to make progress. If you have a reactive dog, conducting in-home training is a brilliant idea. Training at home ensured that Marco was comfortable and receptive to learning. Plus, Louise was able to help us set up a dedicated training space within our home. Louise genuinely cares about dogs and their well-being, and wants to see them thrive. Before meeting her, we met with another trainer who used physically aggressive training methods that made Marco yelp in pain. It was awful. But Louise's methods are based on positive reinforcement - and they're extremely effective. Our dog adores her, and we’re grateful for the positive impact she’s had on him. 🐶❤️

I would do anything for my dog but I had completely lost hope last spring.  He wouldn't let anyone touch his feet and his nails had become unmanageable.  To make things worse, we hit his quick right around the time that the hopelessness was kicking in. Jump forward about a year and not only is our pup letting us occasionally touch his feet, but he's communicating when he is unwilling to be handled and even using a scratch board to take care of his own nails. We worked through fear of going to the vet, communication and cooperative care, and even leaned into finding ways to satisfy our dog's hunt drive.  I have the skills to advocate for him and have a much better read on his body language to understand what he needs from me while entering stressful situations. Nose work classes are a great way to have fun with your dog and deepen the unspoken communication they have with you. My terrier enjoys the hunt for scent and seems pleased with himself when successful. I have enjoyed watching his progression in this sport. I also really enjoy watching the sniffing styles of the other dogs and learning from other handlers. Jake is a great instructor. He’s knowledgeable, has a very kind way about him and treats the dogs and people as individuals. He gets to know and points out the subtle clues your dog gives. I hope to continue with this sport whether we ever compete or not. I highly recommend you try it!

My dog Gioia and I have been taking Jake Belmont's nose work training classes. My dog absolutley loves this sport and is becoming an expert! Gioia has a lot of energy and I needed to find something that would help her to channel some of the energy. But at the same time it needed to be something I could easily do with her. This sport doesn't require me to do a lot of running to keep up with her. It does require her to think and use her nose, something she is always doing anyway. She has a very active nose and this sport has given her a chance to do something that just comes naturally to her, use that nose! Gioia has completed 5 levels of nose work and is about to start her 6th. My hope is to keep her in the training non stop. Why, well because it has made such a great positive impact with her behavior and socialization skills. Gioia is not a huge fan of people but she is getting much better and I believe nose work has contributed to that. She doesn't trust people easily but right from the 1st class she has run right up to Jake like he is her best friend! I have no idea why she has just accepted and trusted him right from the start but perhaps she can sense he is helping her to learn and improve on a sport that she absolutely loves. It is so much fun to see how she has grown and just gets so excited when it's time to go to class or practice at home. If you are looking for a sport that you can do with your dog that will help them build confidence and do something that just comes natural to them, use there nose, I would say nose work is what you are looking for. I would recommend at least trying one level to see how your dog loves it. But be ready, you won't be going to just one level, it will lead to many more and you will have so much fun. Helping your dog learn a sport that has so many great benefits to it is so rewarding and gives you time build an even stronger bond with your dog. Give nose work a try, what do you have to lose! We started working with Louise in October 2023 when our Goldendoodle puppy was experiencing some separation anxiety. It has been an uphill battle but having Louise’s guidance and support has made a world of a difference. We are now at the point where we can leave him alone for short periods of time! Louise has also been helping us with both our dogs in public spaces. Having her instruction has been such a huge help and the growth we have seen in both our dogs is immense! Also, both dogs LOVE her! I would highly recommend Red Pointy Dog Training!
