Real Life K9

We have been extremely satisfied with the training our dog received at Real Life K9! To us, the most important part has been their continued support after we brought Bear home. Jody and Rose have been wonderful to continue to work with us and Bear through some home visits on behaviors that were situational to our home and could not be easily duplicated elsewhere. This has been a lifesaver for us. Now our family, friends, and neighbors can see the sweet boy that we know and love instead of the Tasmanian Devil that he portrayed before! Rose has been so patient and wonderful to work with and Bear is so excited to see her every time! That proves to us that Bear was always in loving and capable hands and that is so very important. Thank you again Real Life K9!

I'll say, pardon me, this may be long. Hopefully worth the read. Upon my initial phone call consultation, I realized this place puts a little more into basic obedience than the average dog trainer's facility. Without really trying, they answered all my questions, checked the boxes, and reassured me that my boy, Scout, would be in great hands during his training. During his training, I received updates and pictures, and I was answered anytime that I reached out to check in, within a reasonable timeframe. There were plenty of pictures posted and updates on his progress. We had a storm come through while Scout was there, and I was worried. I reached out and was reassured that my pup was ok and safe. Then came the day I was waiting for. The day to pick my Scout up, now a trained dog. The trainers start off with a classroom type setting, teaching us about the tools, the commands, and setting our expections of what we were likely to see when our dogs came out. There were several folks there that day picking up dogs, and everyone seemd excited to see their dogs. During the teaching part, we were all forewarned that it is a possibility, although it was rare, that our dog would possibly come out and not perform well at all during the go home lesson. It was further explained, that they have had seven or eight dogs do this out of something like 2,000 dogs. Of course, my thoughts were no way this would be Scout. After all, the trainers had assured me, he had trained very well during his 26-day stay. But, seemingly to their suprise also, Scout came out and refused to obey almost any command. He acted similar to how he acted before he came into training. The trainers reassured me, this was absoluetly abnormal for him, and it was due to the fact of one thing they can't replicate during training is the owner's presence. I understood, but, obviously was a bit taken back. They took Scout back outside to breathe a few minutes while displaying other dogs. Just a little while later, Rose decided we would bring Scout back out to try again. Oh my! What a difference. According to her, Scout was not performing his best, but it was much better than the time before. She was able to get him to perform the commands, albeit it, not perfect. Perfect, but, considerably better. Now, comes the part that was really a little uncomfortable. They had already told us, if this happened, the recommandation was going to be to take what we learned in the classroom and what we had saw the other dogs do, and go home with our dog. Frankly, if it had not been for professionalism during the whole process, I probably would not have trusted this, and being perfectly honest, I wasn't 100% sold on it when I left with Scout. But, I did as they said. We went home, let Scout loose for a while to decompress. A little while later, I leashed up Scout, and decided it was time for our first lesson at home. I was almost brought to tears. My boy, who had been very much out of control prior to training, then, less than really impressive upon pickup, now performed performed every command just as if he had done it all of his life. To say that I was impressed, is an understatement. Since that time, Scout has continued to get better and better with his obedience training. What I can tell you from my experince with Real Life K9 is, these people know what they are talking about. They don't sugar coat anything and what they tell you, you can depend on. They also treat your dog like family and care very well for them. I am happy to refer my friends and family to them for all their training issues with their dogs.

I reached out to various training facilities before choosing Real Life K9. I chose this training facility over others because their attentiveness to understanding what is best for dog and owner is beyond outstanding. The training process is individualized ensuring the needs of dog and owner are met. They are extremely passionate in their line of work, and it shows. My pup loves the trainers and the facility! I couldn’t be happier with the decision.
