Questions & answers
From Google
What people have asked about this business.
My dog barks at everything. Can training help?
Yes! Excessive barking is often rooted in anxiety, not attitude. Our programs focus on building calm, confident behavior at the root—not just stopping the symptom.
Boarding and Daycare drop-off is from 7–8 AM, and pick-up is from 4–6 PM. These times help us maintain a consistent routine for the dogs in our care.
Our training pickup is scheduled into one of our training session windows so we can take the time to go over everything you need to be successful at home.
Do you offer boarding or daycare without doing training first?
Yes, we offer boarding and daycare for well-mannered dogs. We do not take on dogs who are dangerous at this time. Safety and structure are our top priorities.
Can you provide medication if my dog stays with you?
Of course! We have been professionally taking care of dogs for 17yrs, and have experience in the following:
-Geriatric and hospice care
-Care of disabled dogs
-Oral and topical meds
-Injections
-Restraint holds
-Nutrition
Yes! All interactions are carefully supervised, and new dogs are introduced slowly to the group. Groups are arranged by size, age, temperament, and play style. We only allow socialization with dogs that are a good match in temperament and energy. We do not take on aggressive dogs at this time into our groups.
Yes! We work with the entire family, including the kids. We want everyone to be on the same page, and really work hard to get the young ones involved with responsibility/chores, as well as the fun activities with the dog. They are a part of your family too, after all!
Definitely. Whether your dog pulls, lunges, or gets over-excited on walks, we’ll work on calm leash walking using proven, real-life training strategies around distractions.
We work with reactivity regularly.
Absolutely. We specialize in helping families with young children and dogs create safe, respectful relationships. We even offer training geared toward family routines and transitions like bringing home a new baby.
Give us a call or fill out our consultation form on www.theprojectk9.com. We’ll schedule a free phone or in person consult to learn about your dog and help you with figuring out which program will be the best fit based on your preferences!
Yes! During training, you will get real-time footage of our training lessons so you can see your dog's progress.
We regularly post on social media pictures and videos of the dogs we are working with.
We even send cute pictures and videos to the owners while their dogs are staying with us!
How far in advance do I need to book for boarding?
We have very limited space for our daycare and boarding services. We typically book out a few weeks in advance, especially during holidays or summer. Early booking ensures your spot and gives us time to prep for your dog’s stay.
Our Board & Train program includes personalized obedience training, daily structured exercise, socialization with other dogs, and real-world outings in Southern Utah. We focus on behavior transformation, not just commands. You’ll also receive go-home lessons and continued support.

After reading the other one star review I knew I had to speak up. If you want your dog crated all day that’s what you’re going to get with this company. I booked through rover and it stated my dog cannot be crated (he has severe separation anxiety and if is crated needs meds to calm him down) the moment we get there she shoves my dogs in crates and we are told that they would be in there for a span of 4 hours. Let out for 1 hour then put back in for another 4….when we asked if she could have our one dog out at least she said “no we have plans it’s my husband’s birthday” like???? When I’m booking rover it’s is so my dog doesn’t have to be crated. That someone I’m paying a good amount of money has my dog out and is loving on my dog and giving them attention. Not to sit in a crate surrounded by a bunch of other crated dogs that are freaking out. When all this happened I honestly cried over it because I love my dogs so much and thinking of putting them in that environment made me extremely upset. Luckily through rover I got my money back and she was helpful with that but it ruined a whole trip to Vegas that day. This is word for word what happened and if she wants to respond to this review saying otherwise like the other one it’s false. Moral of this, don’t book anything with her bc she doesn’t have time for the 20 dogs that’s crated in her house.
Edit: as a company your responses trying to prove the reviewer wrong is actually crazy. Everything I said happened and you can defend yourself as much as you want but my review is nothing but the truth. I hope you let people understand dogs are in crates all day. And if you count your “employees” you and your husband then ok. I also told you I’d be late because my dog had an issue and you said that’s fine and nothing about a late fee so that’s kinda on you. Anyways, once again just wanted to let people know what you guys do!

Project K-9, Hurricane UT. I'll start by saying the care of my dog was as expected. They do seem to have a lot of knowledge and experience with dogs, and it seems my dog was well taken care of. Everything would have been perfect, and I would have given 6 stars if it wasn't for the chaos in picking up my dog due to miscommunication, changing of the schedule twice on me, then blaming me for all that and a failure in technology and expecting me to make up for her business expenses for it. It was a terrible customer service experience. She changed our pickup time to 7-7:30pm on the last day of out trip because of a family event she had planned over a month in advance. (her words). We were still out of town. This is something she should have mentioned the first day when we agreed on a pickup time.
I agreed in response to her text to the new time and began our trip home. I drove all day and got home to find she did not receive the msg I sent. She should have called me when she did not hear back. Instead, she changed the time back to be between 4 & 6. I got that msg 25 minutes before 6pm. But because she said she had an employee waiting for us, I dropped everything to go get our dog ASAP in an effort to be accommodating, again. We got there at 6:15 and she asked me to pay a $15 late fee. Are you kidding me? You have me jumping through hoops, changing pick up times on me and in an unfortunate event of technology failing us and you think I need to make up your business costs for it? She was set on charging me a fee. She threatened to keep my dog. Thank goodness my daughter already put him in the car. I would have called the police of she did that. She whined that she needed to pay her employee for covering for her while she was at her family party. Well, yes. You do need to pay your employee. I don't have to pay your employee. The way I help pay your employee is by hiring you to watch my dog. And the double amt you charge compared to anyone else I searched up should cover your payroll expenses. She complained that she had the party planned way in advance as if to say (I don't know, maybe to make a point she couldn't change it?) This only tells me she should have let me know on the first day. She kept saying she didn't get my msg. It's truly very unfortunate but not my fault or hers. This is a business expense a professional businessperson needs to take care of in their business. She also tried to lay a guilt trip on me that she took my dog w/ short notice. I called and asked if they were able to take him. She said yes. If she couldn't, she should have said no. Don't make it sound like an inconvenience for me to hire you to do the job that you do just to conveniently make you look like a victim here. You're not. I don't run her payroll, I certainly don't plan her family parties or have any control over cell towers. Each time she needed a change I was very accommodating. She should have called me. She also should have told me in advance and it was in extremely poor taste to ask her customer to deal w/ all this chaos and then pay a late fee to help her pay her employee. A professional business would apologize to the customer and even offer a discount for the next visit. This would have been the smart thing to do. She would have had a happy, repeat customer. Instead she has a very upset customer writing a bad review of the whole experience who will never use them again,
I don't appreciate dealing w/ this irrational entitled thinking of a business owner who doesn't take responsibility of covering the needs of her own business and instead, trying to punish the customer for her own mistake and a technology failure that is not in the customer's control. I would never use her again because I would not trust any future situation would be handled professionally or fairly. You cover your own business costs when no fault incidents occur. Don't chase your customer down your driveway demanding they pay undue late fees when the lateness and difficulties began w/ your lack of communication in the first place.

The first time I met Heather was when she was evaluating my dog, Nova’s, behavior. Nova struggled with human/dog reactivity. I was immediately blown away by the amount of knowledge Heather had. The thing that impressed me most, was that she told me she did not need to watch my dog perform bad behavior in order to see the areas that needed work. Heather provided me with the proper tools that I needed to advocate for my dog. Heather is a wonderful dog trainer, and its a joy to be around her. She gives off such a positive energy!

So thankful for Project K9! My dog is listening to me and behaving, my anxiety has diminished. I no longer have to worry about him going after other dogs while on walks and it feels great! He’s much more calm.
