Dave came to our home and did a very professional evaluation. He explained dog behavior and what would be best for our puppy. He listened to my wife and I in regards to what we are seeking for our dog. He took our dog out and evaluated her on a short walk. Dave got us squared away with the proper training collar and answered all of our questions. He calmed our energetic puppy immediately and provided us with tips to assist in training her. As first time dog owners, my partner and I knew we wanted some help with training our Border Collie mix, Stella Sue. I chose to go with the weekly one on one sessions because I myself wanted to gain more confidence in our training and continue to build that bond with our newly adopted pup. Dave will listen to your goals and make sure each lesson is tailored specifically around them. In just 4 weeks, we have made tons of progress! I truly appreciate the care and patience Dave had with our dog Stella and loved how he incorporated structure and play into the sessions. Any dog owner that has experience with reactive dogs knows that there can be stress and anxiety surrounding socializing your dog but I cannot stress enough that Dave puts your dog’s success and safety at top priority with every session so you will feel comfortable with every step!

At the time I reached out to Dave for help, my English Cream golden retriever was almost 1 year old. "Goose" is a good boy but as I explained to Dave, I felt he could be so much better. I didn't want to get' knocked over or pulled down by this energetic dog. After Dave's evaluation oi the dog we decided to do a weekly hour-long training for both of us. Dave is very professional and such a great guy. He is so patient and helpful and his knowledge and experience with dog behavior unsurpassed. He was recommended to me by Dr. Mimnagh's practice and Goose and I would second that recommendation! Since "we " passed our certification last week we are more confident in our walks and the Thanksgiving holiday was much more manageable with a grandson that is afraid of dogs. This was by far the best dog training experience I have ever had. Dave has a great approach to not only training the dog but the handler. He was constantly observing my responses and reactions to my dog and honing my skills. He did it in a way that was helpful, respectful, and nonjudgmental. He customized the training to what outcomes I wanted with Luka. He was flexible with his time and willingness to teach me. I am more confident with Luka out and about. And Luka is much more confident! This is exactly where I want him to be. I know that as I continue my work with Luka, I can count on Dave to give me guidance, if needed! I can't leave out how kind Dave's family is. They opened their home and lives to Luka and worked with him to meet my goals and help him become more confident.

The best decision I made with regards to my dog, and I was to seek help from ProActive Dog Training. Dave is the most stand-up person I've met in a long time. His knowledge is vast, and you can tell he loves dogs. At just 20 weeks old my Doberman, Nora was already quite a handful, and I had doubts as to what our future together would look like. Within minutes of our consultation Dave had her following basic commands I had doubted she would ever do. I now know I needed as much training (if not more) than Nora! Dave set us up on the six-week AKC Puppy S.T.A.R. program which we completed and passed. We now have a solid foundation to build on and I look forward to working with Nora and perfecting what we have learned from Dave. I hope to work with Dave again in the future once we are ready to work towards CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and off leash. I cannot thank Dave enough for taking Nora and I on and for training both of us, setting us on a path towards success!
