As a first time Rottweiler own, I reached out to Dave at proactive dog training, he came to the house to evaluate my 7 month old Luna, Luna had many anxieties, she wouldn’t go down my steps to the basement or walk out on the sidewalks where cars were driving by. I decided I wanted to do 4 1hr session of one on one so Dave could give me some guidance on things I can work on at home with Luna, Luna then had 3 weeks of day classes, Dave was wonderful with Luna, with all his knowledge and expertise, she does all her commands, stairs and walking by and around moving cars with no issues, I am now able to take her out for walks which I couldn’t do since I brought her home on Sept 19, 2024. I highly recommend Dave at proactive dog training, excellent service, I am very happy with the outcome with Luna. Luna also had a great time when she was with him learning, meeting people and other dogs and having play time with them. When We Dropped our 5 month old Cocker Spaniel, Franklin James Off At Proactive Dog Trainings 2 week Training Camp, He entered the program as a Juvenile Delinquent. He was super hyper, destructive, and had anxiety issues, as well as food aggression. We trusted our baby boy with The Proactive Dog Training Team, and we are so glad we did! 2 weeks later, we met the best version of our pup that we could’ve ever hoped for! He is now an obedient young man, and a sweet, calmer Gentleman ! Dave and his team worked with Our Boy, to teach him proper commands, obedience, off lead training, and worked with his social anxiety, and food aggression as well giving us a detailed layout on how to continue Frankie’s training and progression. He also taught us many more techniques on how to make Frankie an upstanding Doggie member of Society! What a difference 2 weeks makes! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exceptional Training Experience with Proactive Dog Training I cannot recommend Proactive Dog Training enough! Dave, a retired K9 police officer, and his wife Jenn provided an incredible experience for both of my dogs—my 8-year-old Vizsla, Ollie, and my 1-year-old Xolo, Stella. One of the main reasons I chose Proactive Dog Training was because Dave takes only one client at a time, which meant my dogs were fully immersed in his family. They weren’t just boarded and trained—they were truly cared for, loved, and treated as their own. That level of attention and personal investment gave me so much comfort. Jenn was the “good cop,” providing warmth, food, and a nurturing presence while Dave handled the structured training. It was the perfect balance. When I decided to get a Xoloitzcuintli, I didn’t fully realize the unique challenges that come with such a primitive breed. But Dave was exactly the right trainer to set Stella up for success from the start. Throughout their time there, Dave kept me updated daily, which made the whole experience even better. Dave came to our home and within minutes, made both and our pups feel comfortable and excited to begin their training. One of our dogs is a bit over friendly, and the other has issues with people in her space. Dave quickly got to work evaluating, clearly explained ways we can address behaviors in both dogs, and left us with a plan to keep training on own. Can’t recommend him enough for anyone facing a range of challenging dog behaviors.
