I can’t say enough amazing things about Jamie at Pawsome University! We’ve been working together for about 1.5 years after our rescue dog began showing signs of aggression to our other pup. In that time, Jamie has helped us to better understand both of our dogs, manage their big feelings, and improve their relationship immensely! When we started, our dogs were fighting over the leftover scents of food on the floor, now I don’t have to worry if I drop anything or forget to put away their food bowls- they’re good! Once we resolved the first issue- we’ve been working on both of our dogs reactivity on walks/in public at the special reactive dog class. Not only is it incredible to have a safe/controlled place for us to train our dogs, Jamie’s guidance during the group sessions has helped both of my dogs to relax around other dogs (which is critical, as they have dragged me down the street in the past. RIP to my favorite leggings). Now, I’ve begun to walk them both at the same time by myself! I tell every single person I meet who has a dog to “call my trainer! She’s amazing!” most of our sessions were completely virtual, which allows a lot of flexibility in time, and forced us (in a good way) to really figure out how to help our dogs, rather than relying on the trainer to do it. And ALL POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT! We have made so much progress without relying on tools or corrections and our relationships with our dogs have grown so much more. I have grown up with dogs my whole life, even worked with them professionally for a few years. I’ve seen a lot of different issues and temperaments, but when I rescued my girl Madison I felt like we were hitting behavioral issue after behavioral issue, and she was the first dog I’ve ever had where I felt like I was at a loss. The vet prescribed her tranquilizers and told me I couldn’t live with her like this, the vet tech told me I was at a point where I needed to give her back or away. That is just something I don’t do. I was looking into behaviorists, as Madison almost seemed worse on the medications, and I found Pawsome university. I decided to give it a shot, because I was not giving up on this dog- she is family. I cannot believe the progress that this dog has made, and I can never say enough how helpful meeting with Jaime has been. It has really been life changing for my family but more importantly, Madison. As annoying as extreme dog anxiety can be, I know it was worse for her. I was worried something would happen where what happened with my Maddie girl would be out of my hands but I knew deep down she was a good girl. We have truly saved her life. The only animal trainers you should work with! I value Jaime and John’s work so much!
