Pawsitive Paul's Dog Training

Paul’s head trainer Steph worked wonders with our dog Layla. She used to beg constantly for food in the kitchen and dinner table- now she always waits politely in the other room :) She’s a rescue, so even the basics of sit, lay down, stay, not pulling on the leash were a little rusty but with positive reinforcement and some great information from Steph we have made so much progress with our beefy angel. Pawsitive Paul's Dog Training is the best. I contacted Paul to inquiry about joining his group puppy class for our "Marlei' the Chinese Crested". She needed basic obedience and socializing. Marlei' did very well and really adapted to the other puppies quickly with no hesitation. She graduated April 2018 and one year later has graced the show ring doing her thing. Thank you Paul. Her obedience training is part of her great presence in the show ring. Marlei' aka Jewels Let Her Fly is doing great things and I thank you again for her remarkable start.

We adopted Winston in November and didn't realize that he had some aggression issues. He had snapped and bitten us and some family members so we decided to call Paul. Paul came in and with one short session and a few emails back and forth, he gave us the tools we needed to make Winston a better dog. After 9 months of training, we've had multiple friends and family start saying that he's like a whole different dog. Before, we couldn't even brush his fur and now we are able to bathe him and cut his hair. We are very cautious of his interactions with strangers and children but we don't avoid it like the plague anymore. He has learned to trust us and became much less defensive and we have Paul to thank for that! The attached picture is a photo of Winston cuddling with my dad. Before, my dad refused to go into the house because of Winston. Now, he voluntarily cuddles him!

I had initially inquired about group classes at Pawsitive Paul's. After describing the situation with my 8-month old pup - we've had him for 4 months and after growing and weighing nearly 50 pounds, his jumping on me and tugging on the leash was making it nearly impossible to walk him (instead, he would take me for a "drag") - Paul suggested a single private session instead. Diogee already knew basic commands, so he thought the class might be too basic for him. I was skeptical because 1) I thought fixing the problem in a single session was a ridiculous notion, and 2) Paul's training methods focus on positive training and my dog had never been particularly food or treat motivated. Other trainers had convinced me that using a prong collar or something similar was the only option to break him of this habit. Despite my reservations, I decided to give it a try. Well, I was right in one regard - a single session didn't "fix" the problem. BUT that single session taught my husband and I what we needed to do to get Diogee on the right path (pun intended). After just two days of practicing with him, his behavior on the leash is markedly improved. I know with just a little consistency, Diogee will become the running companion I'd hoped he would be. I couldn't be more pleased with my experience with Paul or the outcome. Paul seems to be someone who truly loves what he does and is extremely knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to animal temperament and behavior. He is kind and compassionate and extremely genuine. I highly recommend him.
