I scheduled to board my dog with them and it went smoothly and they were very sweet people. I had an unexpected change of plans and called to cancel my reservation 5 days in advance. When I made my deposit I was not informed that they would keep my deposit even if I canceled far in advance. I was told because of the size of their facility that they keep the deposit. Please inform your customers of this in advance before they book the reservation. They are very nice people but that seems pretty shady to me. Now I am out 115 dollars, which I’m sure no one wants to just lose like that.

We had our dog, Sadie, at Pawsitive Care while we went on a cruise last week. Sadie was attacked a few years ago (NOT at Pawsitive Care) and is very shy around other dogs. We talked to everyone regarding this and were assured she would be fine. When we picked her up, we could tell she had an amazing time! She was happy, playing, and excited that she had just jumped in the pool! We had a great experience and will be back when we need to board again. Thank you.

I’ve been debating writing this review all week and think it’s best for everyone that I do. This is long but I’ll leave a TLDR at the bottom. I called Pawsitive Care 3 weeks ago asking about their Board & Train program, I let them know I had a lab puppy who just needed basic foundation training but was overall very well behaved (we really lucked out!). I asked how long they recommended I send him there for, and was told 2 weeks would be perfect since he was young and didn’t have any bad manners. I asked if 3 weeks was needed, she said no. He was already potty trained, crate trained, and knew sit so I just wanted some more basic commands down. When I dropped him off, I wasn’t given a tour or told what to expect. The two young ladies at the facility were very nice and seemed to have a good grasp of things. So I called Ashley after dropping him off to let her know that he was there and ready to train. She was very open to me about him taking a few days to settle in and made sure I understood that every dog is different and works at their own pace, which I was clear on. I was never under any impression this would be a one time training, I know it’s an ongoing process that requires a lot of patience. Let me be clear - I am 100% a helicopter dog mom. This is my first dog and I’ve gone above and beyond to make sure he has a solid foundation (hence spending over $1k for training). And I guess that’s why I was a bit disappointed- I had to call daily to get any form of update, I didn’t receive any photos unless it was posted on the main IG page, and in the 2 weeks he was there I only received one report card. So if you’re a dog parent like me, this place is not for you. When I picked Wally up, we had a 15 min discussion about what he had been working on. In the 2 weeks that he was there, he learned “sit”, “come”, somewhat knew “down” and some basic leash manners. That’s kind of it. There is no doubt that he had an amazing time there and got to socialize and grow in confidence- I am not even debating that. But I’m terms of actual obedience training, I don’t think he received much. If he had needed an additional week, I would have been open to it had there been more communication. I went home with my puppy, relieved to have him back. I made sure to stay strict with him to maintain any training he had received but quickly realized he didn’t know anything new to what he did prior to being dropped off. I called Ashley to let her know and was a little bit surprised when she told me that “2 weeks isn’t very long, 3 or 4 weeks would have been better” since I had specifically asked her when making the booking. She seemed pretty ok with my disappointment and didn’t offer any kind of 1-on-1 training that could potentially clear up any of my concerns, or offer any verbal commands that I was unaware of. I have spoken to 2 other trainers since picking him up and they were both surprised that 2 weeks was insufficient for basic obedience training since he was so young and quick to pick up verbal commands by them. SUMMARY: I sent my puppy for 2 week board and train, and basically received 2 weeks of board and daycare. Glad my puppy got socialized and had fun but he did not learn anything while there. Nice people, rural facility (my fault I didn’t ask for a tour, can’t offer any insight on the facility itself) but wouldn’t recommend Board & Train there. Spend a few hundred extra dollars elsewhere if you prefer to be more updated, a structured plan and included in your dog’s training. Not sure if they are overwhelmed by boarding and daycare because of the summer but not worth it to me.
