FirstBarkTook my 7 month old yellow lab and she was trained well. She showed curiosity, as she would if we were out hiking or camping together then stayed well away. The trainers did a fantastic job of guiding her through this experience

About Partners Snake Avoidance
Partners Snake Avoidance has successfully trained over 16,000 dogs to avoid the SCENT and SOUND of a Rattlesnake for the past 16 years. It works in 3 parts. 1. We put our own equipment on your pup and use our own experienced handlers to make sure they association is objective as possible. Just between the dog and the snake. 2. We then take your dog to around to several double mesh wire cages in a desert environment, and once they recognize the scent or sound of the rattlesnake we give a very minimal "nick" on an e-collar to train a negative association. 3. At the end, we will give you a recap of what we thought of the session and will recommend a time to come back for your pup's refresher.

Do you use defanged, box, or cage training? I'm getting a 6 month old heeler who will be my hiking buddy.
They use a double mesh wire cage so there is no chance the snake can get to your dog. Though, it still lets the sound and scent through! I would never go to a trainer that defangs the snakes as it can be very painful for the snake, and still potentially harm the dog. The fangs grow back:/

After seeing the neighbors dogs that had Partners Snake Avoidance on film...stopping there people from getting bit from a Green Majave Rattlesnake (very aggressive Rattler that will Chase you) So not only did it work for my Mom's Chihuahua and save me from getting bit last year it's a good thing to have and know your dog is protected. Amazing!! I took my Great Dane puppy Minnie once when she was only 12 weeks old. She is now 8 months old. Last night she was barking non-stop. After 15 minutes I finally realized she was trying to tell me something so my family and I went outside and she was standing in front of a 6 foot long snake!! First of all. Their technique of snake training had absolutely no effect on my dog. Two days after the "training" my dog walked straight up to a 3 foot rattlesnake without any fear. Zero avoidance. But that is not the worst part. The worst part is their attitude toward me when I told them it didn't work. And the ABSOLUTE WORST PART? They started filming me without my permission because I was annoyed with their service. They start filming me with a phone without my permission. As if I'm some kind of criminal. They were going to show me! They will show me how my annoyed response will be filmed! Filming someone without permission is beyond rude. It exhibits a sense of superiority. Just the absolute worst example of socially unacceptable behavior I can imagine. Had I known they had this unbelievable sense of entitlement... unbelievable disregard for personal privacy... unbelievable disrespect for people... I would never even consider stepping foot on their property.
