This social is specifically for small puppies 8 weeks through 26 weeks of age AND under approximately 12 pounds, We have small class sizes, 8 puppies maximum, we encourage the whole family to attend. Puppies are required to have at least one set of parvo / distemper vaccinations and be with their new family for at least one week and be healthy! This social is held at Orion dog training at 576 E Santa Clara Street in San Jose. The floors are sanitized before puppy classes. Please contact me if you are unsure or just have more questions. We welcome the whole family to attend! Puppies get to play, interact and / or observe other puppies and meet other people, explore a variety of objects, surfaces, and sounds. If a puppy is too shy and or afraid, we will slowly introduce the puppy to the rest of the puppies on your puppy's own terms. We also incorporate: 1) Several settling sessions, where your pup learns to chill on their mat. 2) Handling games. Does your puppy run away when you come close? Does he bite when picking him up? or putting on the collar or harness? In this class we will continue the skills we learned in fit dog 1 Class is for all levels, for all types of dog, no matter their activity level. (NO Class Saturday, September 19 due to Bark in the Park) An awesome five-week class, for puppies 8 weeks through 30 weeks of age. You can jump in any Saturday, sign up and then come for FIVE weeks total! (You can also just book one session at a time! : Drop-In Puppagility) Even if you do not decide to pursue the sport of agility! This class is a great way to learn how to get and keep your puppies attention under many distractions. Fun exercises on low objects, the tunnel and, at the end of class, your pup will be able to do a puppy agility course and have learned some fun tricks. It is a great confidence building class, so great for shy puppies as well! We will work on how to get your pup's attention, recall, and lots more. Be prepared to bring toys, food and have lots of fun. There is no prerequisite for this, any puppy 10-30 weeks can join. NO Class September 19 ! Join our exciting six-week training class ($275) at Orion Dog Training, conveniently located at 576 E Santa Clara Street in San Jose. Jump right in, you can start any of the start dates and come for six weeks! Designed for fully vaccinated puppies up to 14 months young that are graduates of Puppy 1 and / OR have the following skills at home, but struggle with listening out and about: sit, down on cue, heel position, leave it and drop it and name recognition, loose leash walking , come at home when called. (check our beginner obedience class if you do not have these skills and are over six months. Puppy 2 is great class to practice your skills with distractions like other dogs and people. Like the CGC class you can retake this class as many times as you want. This course builds on these essential cues like sit, down, loose leash walking, stay and recall. We will include grooming and handling, go to mat and settle. Every week we will learn a new trick as well! Simply choose your start day and commit to coming every week for six weeks – your journey to a well-mannered canine starts here! In this class you can test to earn your AKC STAR Certificate if you yest before your dog is a year old. Pick a start day: Monday at 4pm or Friday at 9am then you sign up and come every week for four weeks! This is a four week (4 x 45 minute sessions) class for puppies 8 weeks through 12 weeks young (For puppies 12 weeks and older please check out our AKC STAR Puppy 1 Class ), who have had at least one set of shots and have been with you for at least one week. We sanitize the floor and IF you are worried still we will prevent the other puppies greeting your puppy. We want everybody to feel comfortable and safe but we do not want you to miss out on these important first view weeks of their lives with you. The critical socialization period is between 3 and 16 weeks. This is the time where you safely socialize them to our environment, which includes, people, kids, different sounds, objects in and out the house. Puppy Pre School is a four week class and consists of four individual modules A, B, C and D A: Bringing your puppy home: crate/play pen training, alone time and nap time, potty training, house hold rules. B: Handling & Grooming : Biting, chew toy training, drop it, gotcha game, vet exam practice, prepping for nail clipping, brushing and bathing. C: Safe introduction to the environment: Habituating to our world, people, animals, sounds and objects in and around the house . What to do when your puppy is fearful, scared etc and what not to do. D: Let the fun begin! Training and tricks that help your puppy prepare for the AKC STAR Puppy 1 class. The AKC STAR Puppy Program is designed to get you and your puppy of to a great starts. The AKC STAR puppy requires owners to attend a basic six week puppy class with their puppy. For puppies between three months of age and six months of age, at the start of class, we require that the puppies had at least one set of shots, and have been with the new family for a week. We have the Puppy Pre K for puppies 8 weeks through 12 weeks STAR stands for: Socialization, Training, Activity and Responsible ownership. Puppy's brains are like sponges, and they can learn so much their first couple of months after you get them home. Training does not start in class. Every minute of the day, they are learning and observing. Start them early, and they can achieve great things! In this class, we will work on lots of engagement through play and teach you how to communicate with your puppy and to understand them better. We will teach and practice: come when called, sit and down, heel position, loose leash walking, drop it on cue, leave it, wait and stay. We go over crate training, play pen training, how to settle your puppy, inappropriate chewing, biting, barking, jumping, digging, door manners, and we will address grooming and handling. Come and try agility and see what it is all about. At this event an experienced agility handler and certified dog trainer will guide you through all the obstacles safely! Agility is a fun and exciting sport that you do together with your dog. It is made up of jumps and tunnels, and a frame, dog- walk and a teeter. Agility helps build your dog's confidence and it greatly improves your relationship. * For fully vaccinated Parvo/ distemper/rabies dogs over six months of age (we require to see proof at entrance) * Your leashed dog should be okay with other leashed dogs and humans * No prong collars nor e collars allowed. In this six week class we will continue to practice and improve the agility skills we started in beginner agility. You can jump in any week, please choose the day, when you book and start your six- week plan. For graduates of beginner agility, dogs should be able to have jumps and tunnels on cue and be able to do four in a row. Introduction to Rat Sports – 5- Week Course The Introduction to Rat Sports Class is designed for both beginners and experienced dog-sport teams. Rat sports are an ideal entry point for handlers who are new to dog activities because they tap into dogs’ natural instincts and the lower levels are simple, fun, and confidence-building. Throughout the course, dogs will be introduced to the two main rat-sport organizations, each offering very different trial styles. Teams will gain exposure to both formats so you can explore which suits your dog best. Over Five Weeks We Will Cover: ⭐ Brief Introduction to Scent Theory How dogs use their noses, how scent moves, and why rat-based sports rely so strongly on instinct. ⭐ Rat Welfare, Handling, and Safety We take rat welfare extremely seriously. Rats sports 2 Is a six week class for all teams that have succesfully completed our five week Rat 1 class! Or for teams that have gotten approval from us. In this class we will continue to work on the dog finding the rat and increase the difficulty of the searches by going outside and adding distracter boxes!
