Off Leash K9 Training of Maine

A few days ago we picked up our 11 month old pit bull mix, Reggie, from the two-week board and train program with Travis. Reggie's progress has far exceeded our expectations. Before we sent Reggie to Travis for training, we never let her run off leash in our yard, because she couldn't reliably come when called and we were afraid she'd run into the busy road we live on. She pulled on the leash terribly, and cried and moaned when she wanted to greet another dog on leash. This training has helped so much with all of these challenges. We've been walking her off leash through our neighborhood, and letting her run free in the backyard. She is really reliable about coming when called, and no longer pulls on leash. Like many dog owners, at first we were a bit uneasy about the idea of the e-collar, and it felt a little scary to send your dog away with a stranger for two weeks. But now, having used the collar for a few days, I am confident that it's a really great tool for our dog. And Travis clearly cares about the dogs he trains and Reggie was treated really well. We are still getting the hang of the timing of the commands and the use of the collar, but it hasn't been as intimidating as I feared, and it doesn't seem cruel or inhumane. We realize that we will need to keep up with her training daily, to build on all of the work Travis has done with her. But I feel confident we'll be able to do it, since she has such a strong foundation from the two-week program.

At the age of 6 months, we sent Bunker, our GSP to the board and train program. We were convinced Bunker would spend his life on a leash or in a fenced in yard because his nose would take over and he could not control his impulses, he had the attitude of, I’m going to do what I want and you’re not going to stop me, and he just wasn’t too keened in on us which made training on our own VERY difficult. All thanks to Travis, our days of worrying are over. Travis was extremely accommodating to the commands we wanted Bunker to learn, he sent us picture and video updates that blew us away. I literally had butterflies in my stomach the day we drove to pick him up, it was the same excited feeling I had when we first brought Bunker home! We couldn’t be more proud of how far he came in just TWO weeks and now he continues to amaze us as Travis gave us the training and skills necessary to continue Bunkers training journey. We were worried Bunker wouldn’t listen to us as well as he did for Travis but luckily the transition was flawless. Even after getting Bunker back, Travis is still answering our questions which means a lot to us! Thank you a million Travis, we truly appreciate all that you did!

Signing our dog Gus up for the two week board and train was the best decision we could have made for him and for us. It’s amazing to think back to just a few weeks ago when we would struggle to walk him because he would pull so much, he would jump on anyone that approached him, he could never sit or listen around distractions, and on hikes he would only come when he felt like it. One of the most frustrating parts was realizing that we just weren’t able to communicate with Gus- he was doing his best but just didn’t know exactly what we wanted and lacked the confidence and focus to calm himself down. Travis’s training worked magic and Gus now looks to us for guidance and direction, and is eager to work and please. He is a better listener, more confident, and exceptionally well-behaved, even around dogs, toys, people, and food. Most days of the training we would receive photos and a well-edited video showing his progress and what they were working on. It’s comforting to know that if Gus needs a refresher, we have free follow-up sessions for the rest of Gus’s life. It’s hard to be away from your dog for two weeks, and it’s definitely a financial investment, but working with Off Leash K9 Training will transform you and your dog’s quality of life.
