I could not recommend Nitro K-9 any more! I adopted a Bully Pittie mix (my 3rd) and I knew he needed rigorous training given he was out in the streets for over a year. When I first came to see Steve, my dog didn’t even know “sit”. Now he knows all the basic commands (sit, down, come, heel, wait, stay) and is thriving. I’ve trained with both Steve and North and you can’t go wrong with either trainer. All of this was accomplished in less than 10 sessions - a miracle given where my dog was.

I went to Nitro K9 because my 3-year-old GSD and I had already been through obedience training with other trainers. She knew all the commands, but I could not get reliable focus from her. As soon as she got excited or distracted, she would completely ignore commands. Our walks and outings were often spent watching for triggers rather than enjoying a calm, enjoyable experience together. After just a few months of training with Steve and North the transformation has been incredible. She is now calm, focused, and attentive, and I have complete confidence walking her anywhere—even off leash. The difference in her behavior is something I didn't think was possible in such a short amount of time. Steve's knowledge, patience, and training methods are outstanding. He and North don't just train dogs—they teach owners how to communicate with and understand their dogs, creating lasting results. If you're willing to put in the work and follow their guidance, you'll be amazed at what your dog can achieve. I'm looking forward to continuing our training at Nitro K9 and seeing my girl reach her full potential while developing the natural abilities she was bred for. We cannot say enough good things about Steve, North, and Nitro K-9. We worked with Steve and his team to train our (now 2 year old) german shepherd puppy, who after 6 months of work is now a fully certified service animal. We started seeing results in our very first session and it only got better from there. Be ready to put in the work outside the classroom. Steve makes it very clear from day 1 that real dog training is about building a real, present, and focused relationship between you and your dog. One where your dog not only understands you and what you are asking of it, but where you also learn to understand what your dog is trying to communicate to you in return. No treats, no tricks, just consistency, patience, and dedication to the work. Also be aware that Steve's methods in some ways run counter to a lot of what we would think of as "modern dog training techniques", eliminating the use of treats almost entirely, and relying on deliberate and skillful leash work to build a working vocabulary between you and your dog.
