We cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with Steve and his crew at Nitro K-9! We did a three week board and train with our dog Hudson, and the results were truly amazing. Honestly, we got a different dog back than the one we dropped off And I mean that in the very best possible way. The difference is his listening, manners, confidence, focus, and overall behavior was incredible. It was clear that so much time, patience, knowledge, and genuine care went into working with him. What do you process us? The most was that they didn’t just train Hudson, they took the time to understand him and teach him in a way that made sense for him. They also gave us the tools and guidance. We needed to continue reinforcing everything at home and it’s been working wonderfully! Our expectations were high going in and they absolutely exceeded them. We are so grateful for the time and effort and the love they put into their time with Hudson. If you’re considering training your dog… Do yourself a favor and call them! We would recommend them without hesitation and would absolutely do another boarding train with them. In fact we’ve already scheduled one for early next year. Truly cannot say enough good things about them and five stars really doesn’t feel like enough!

Nitro K-9 went above and beyond for me and my service dog. After another company took advantage of me while I was recovering from a brain hemorrhage, I was honestly feeling overwhelmed and unsure of who I could trust. Finding Nitro K-9 was such a blessing. Steve is one of the best humans that I know. I brought Beauregard, my one-year-old Great Dane puppy, to Steve at Nitro K-9 because leash-pulling had become dangerous and he routinely ignored recall — issues made more urgent by my goal of having Beauregard work in my clinic as a service dog. From the first session Steve assessed Beauregard’s temperament and clearly explained what behaviors were driving the problem and how I could appropriately address them in order to have him safely in a health care environment. Thanks to Steve’s guidance, Beauregard is now a well-trained service dog. He reliably follows commands, comes when called, and is much safer around people and in my clinic (especially around medical equipment - still watch out for the tail!). He continues to receive compliments from members of the community for how socialized and well behaved he is — a testament to the quality of the Nitro K-9 training. What stood out most was Steve’s ability to quickly tune into Beauregard’s needs and subtle behaviors, and then translate those into practical training for me as an owner. He taught me to recognize those subtle cues, communicate more effectively with my service animal, and implement appropriate, humane corrections. The work strengthened my bond with Beauregard — I feel more confident and emotionally connected than I ever believed possible. A note for anyone considering Nitro K-9: be prepared to reframe some common misconceptions about obedience training. As soon as I saw Beauregard wagging his tail and responding happily to gentle corrections, I knew we were in the right place and my errant misconceptions melted. We found Steve and the team at Nitro K9 when we were really struggling with our 4-month-old Golden Retriever puppy, Rookie. He was having a hard time with potty training and was largely out of control—constant barking, chewing everything in sight, the usual (but exhausting) puppy chaos. After three weeks of board and train, Rookie came home a completely different dog. He was obedient, fully potty trained, calm, and the nonstop barking was gone. Steve also helped us adjust Rookie’s diet, which made a big difference in his overall health and behavior. We were so happy with the results that we sent him back for two more weeks four months later so Steve could help us fine-tune his obedience. We can’t thank them enough and give Nitro K-9 our highest recommendation!
