New Dogs - Old Trix

Not willing to put up with the hassles of new puppy, my husband and I adopted a rescue Labrador. Charlie came to us on his third home in only 3 1/2 years. He was a lovable dog but had some incredible behavior issues. We could not control him, could not walk him and actually feared that we would have to pass him along to someone else who was better suited for his needs. We were referred to Susan. She not only spent time with both of us and Charlie but also came to our home and gave us private lessons until she was available to take him in a board and train situation. The dog that was returned to us was not the same dog. He was engaging and pleasant, obedient and happy. Susan taught us how to work with him, how to understand him and how to encourage and develop his sense of security. We have had dogs for 25 years and always have them trained. Susan he has delivered, without a doubt, a completely different experience from anyone else. The psychological process that she uses is not only effective but more gentle than any prior technique. Without Susan, we would have felt like failures. We would not have been able to feel the true joy of our new dog. Charlie is smart and funny and now, well-adjusted. What we thought was a mistake has turned out to be one of the best dogs ever. We can't thank her enough.

We just got back from our first puppy socialization and I can’t say enough good things! The trainers are amazing, very welcoming and so informative. During the social they let you know what’s going on with your puppy and teach you about doggy social cues and body language. They make sure are all the dogs are having fun and enjoying the experience while learning positive social cues. I drove from Marana which was easily a 50 minute drive so Archie could have the experience and we can’t wait to go back, it’s definitely worth it! Archie started nervous and ended more confident than he started. Can’t wait to see how this group helps him grow!

This free playgroup and class has been wonderful for our Boston terrier Zoe (13lbs). Zoe was very fearful of other dogs, especially larger ones, after being attacked at the local dog park. At her first playgroup Zoe needed to be kept on leash and have a constant advocate so she felt safe and didn't defense bite when approached. Now after a few months she is confident enough to be right there in the mix with dogs of all sizes! We're now working on her learning when a shyer dog isn't interested in playing to back off trying to engage them. This class has made a huge difference and Zoe comes home exhausted and happy. Susan, Brittany and Chris do an excellent job of keeping play safe and correcting any inappropriate behavior. Brittany even takes adorable photos of the dogs too. Its a bit of a drive to the far east side for us but the play area is very well built and maintained and the positive social time for Zoe is worth it. I would highly recommend this class. Ask Susan for directions so google doesn't take you the rather roundabout way.
