NC K9 LLC

When I put my dog in the hands of the NC K9 team, she was a hyper golden retriever with a hot spot under her chin, a lust to chew, demolish or eat almost anything that smelled good within her reach. We were terrified if she escaped through the front dog or were not out on the porch when guest arrived because of the sheer velocity with which she ran and her disregard of our commands. I won't say she came home a different dog. She still has all that energy and a tendency for counter-cruising, as well as boundless affection for me, her food source. But she listens to my commands, and with daily reinforcement heeds them immediately. It's truly a pleasure to walk her and play games. Yes, Jim and Sunny taught my dog how to be a good companion, but they accomplished even more in my view by showing me how well she could listen and obey. She came home clean and cared for and her very best self.

Wow, what an amazing experience for our dogs! We were at our wits' end with two of our dogs and despite having consulted with veterinarians and DVM behavioral specialists, we were convinced that we would have to rehome one of them to maintain our sanity. Two dogs that couldn't be in the same room together without nonstop snarling, growling, and lunging at each other are now able to not only be in the same room, but quietly and calmly walk together, work side by side, and enjoy off leash time enjoyably. Jim and his staff do more than train the dogs in a positive way, it's obvious they truly care about the dogs' well-being, their happiness, and ultimately giving both dogs and owners the tools they need to make the best of their relationship. The facility is spotlessly clean, as are the dogs in their care - our dogs were both blowing coat during their time there and it was clear that they were bathed and brushed out regularly during their stay. Our GSD came back to us as a super fit athlete, ready to go to work - the second he hears me pick up his leash or collar, he's sitting at my side, eager to go work! The dogs really are provided with the varied mental and physical stimulation they need to be successful when they return to their "normal" lives. They have our Cardigan Welsh Corgi for a few more weeks to polish his obedience, but we're incredibly grateful that NC K9 was there to help when we'd run out of options - we adore our dogs and to have the harmony restored is nothing short of a miracle!

I thank NC K9 and Jim for helping my dog reach his full potential. I have a 3 year old GSD/malinois that was very reactive towards people and would pull on a leash. It got to the point where I wouldn’t take him anywhere. He has now learned how to walk next to me while on walks and doesn’t bark or lunge at strangers. He also listens to me recalling him when off leash. I recently had a get together at my house and he did so well with meeting new people and was playful. I would always be nervous to have company over before because I knew it would be non stop barking. We are continuing training everyday to keep up with it but I’m so thankful for getting that extra help from everyone at NC K9!

I got a German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees rescue pup that was 4 months old. She is a great dog, but at 5 months old, she was too much for me to handle. She was dragging me down the sidewalk on our walks, and would just go nuts when encountering other people and dogs. I enrolled her in the board and train program here. She came back as a well behaved dog! She still gets super excited, but she has learned to keep her feet on the ground when encountering others. She heels remarkably well, and will stay when asked to, for quite some time. She even walks with me on the boardwalk around the marina, when she had been terrified to do that before. I am considering enrolling her in the advanced training program after she is a year old. The folks at NCK9 worked magic. 🙂
