Monument City Dog

Bo is our second rescue pup - an unknown mishmash of breeds so we had no idea what to expect. After a solid decade of trying to manage bad behavior from our former rescue and now being a family with young kids, we knew we wanted to do it differently - and do it right - with Bo. Laura came recommended to us from friends and we are so happy to have worked with her. We decided Bo needed the three week board and train and it was life changing for all of us! Laura didn’t just throw Bo into a training regimen formula, she treated him as an individual pup and addressed his needs the same way. Laura kept us updated throughout the training and fully prepared and educated us when it was time to bring him back home. She was also available to address our questions and concerns even after Bo was home which was amazingly helpful - she even made a drop by visit to help with the transition! In addition to training Bo, she also taught us how to help our nervous pup cope in stressful situations and also to advocate for him. We see a side of Bo now we didn’t know existed - he’s calm, happy and content! And we enjoy him so much more now too! He can go everywhere with us and he loves it! There is nothing like being able to let your dog run free off leash, and knowing (confidently) he will come right back by my side when I call for him. It’s life changing and we are forever grateful to Laura for dedicating her life to these pups! She’s THE BEST!!!!

We sent our dog to Laura for a three week board and train and literally couldn’t be happier. Working with her was awesome and somehow in three weeks she was able to address everything we were struggling with. She kept us updated the entire time and really helped us understand what she was working on with him. We had visited a few other trainers prior to working with Laura with mixed results. I think what makes her methods different is not everything is black and white and each dog is different and the training reflects that. She also is realistic and made us feel okay about expectations. Another thing that we really enjoyed is she’s based in the city, a lot of the other board and trains were more rural and it didn’t really match with what we needed. Laura was able to take the stress and the hardest part out of the training, and set us up for success when we got home. But most importantly our dog is still the same dog, just a lot more enjoyable version!

We sent both of our dogs to Laura and it was more than we could have hoped for! We already had one dog and had recently adopted a second. While we fell in love with his cute face and sweetness he was otherwise a terror. He had no manners and no self control. He would pee in the house multiple times a day, nip at our other dog, pull at the leash and go crazy whenever we passed by another dog. He was unable to sit still and there was rarely a moment of calm in our home let alone any chance of taking him out in public. Using the e-collar, as well as personalized techniques, Laura sent us home with a completely different dog. She gave us the reset we desperately needed and taught him skills that easily translate to any situation. Our pups both came home with a new mindset and way of life. They are able to seamlessly alternate between play time and calm. Even after they came home Laura was always available to answer any questions we had and to help us navigate new situations. Highly highly highly recommend!

Laura is THE BEST!! After seeing the amazing work she did with my sisters dog, I sent my puppy to her board and train program and was blown away with the results. I sent him for his first week when he was around 4 months. He wasn't a "bad" dog, but he was a typical energetic puppy and I wanted to start training as early as possible before he developed long lasting bad habits. After one week with Laura he could walk in a perfect heel, stay put around distractions, come and listen when called. He stopped whining and crying in his crate and learned some very valuable commands like "drop it" that came in very handy (hes picked up some pretty nasty stuff). At only 4 months old he was able to go off leash in my yard and on hikes and I never had to worry about him ignoring me or not coming back. I lived alone in a small apartment for a while and have had to work from home since March and having a trained puppy who can listen and stay on "place" while I work was a lifesaver. I just sent my puppy back for his second week of training and was yet again blown away by Lauras work. He was still a very good puppy and listened very well, but he gets very excited when he meets new people (he will actually scream) and he is in his teenager phase where he starts trying to push the limits. In one week Laura was able to tune up all of his previous training (his heel is impeccable now) and she taught him how to relax and stay in a better, calmer state of mind. He used to gulp down his food without chewing and I had to stop giving him bones and treats because he would swallow them without chewing and throw them up on my bed in the morning. After staying with Laura, he is now able to take his time eating his food and actually chews his treats because he is not in a constant state of stress/excitement. I am still blown away by what a great dog he is at such a young age. When I dropped him off for his second week I had mentioned to Laura that I was moving back in with my parents and was worried this could undo some of his training since they aren't used to having a dog and don't really know how to handle him or use an e-collar. She invited my family to his go home and took time to teach my parents what to do and how to keep up with his training and explained the importance of doing so. They are still working on it but I can tell they learned a lot and it helped for them to hear it directly from a professional instead of me relaying the information. I feel much better leaving him with them and I can tell they are much more comfortable too. I recommend Laura to literally everyone I know. Her board and trains are such a good investment and she is great to work with. I don't think I could have handled a puppy on my own for so long if I hadn't sent him to her early on, and I learned so much from her that I am able to keep up with his training at home. P.S. She also offers daycare at a great price- I sent my puppy there once a week when I was living in the city and felt much better knowing he was in a structured daycare where he could have fun and play with other dogs and wasn't just running around with no rules or supervision or structure.

Laura with Monument City Dog did such a great job with our pup! We recently got a 4 month old rescue lab/hound mix puppy who needed help learning to listen and walk on a leash. It is a night and day difference after participating in her training program. Our pup is now able to walk next to us on the leash without pulling or jumping, he can play with other dogs and us in the park off leash thanks to learning that simple commands are not a question and no matter what distractions are present, we're always the focus in any given moment. Also due to the training program, people are amazed when they learn how young he is because he is so well behaved. Her commitment to not only our puppy but also us as the owner's made it such a great experience. She also gave us the training and confidence to use these commands and tools on our own and it has been working great! We are beyond happy with our results and recommend anyone to use her services if they want to see a massive improvement in their dog's behavior.
