At MLK9 Dog Training, we start by teaching parents how to communicate with their pets using clear commands and rewarding good behavior. Our training methods are based on the science of learning theory and modern, humane dog training techniques. We use positive reinforcement as our primary method of increasing your dog's motivation to learn and to behave in a way that you like better than before. We also use "reward-based punishment," which means that if your dog does something wrong that you don't want him to do, you don't punish him , instead, you simply remove the reward for a short period until he learns not to do it anymore. We sent Nala our German Shepherd puppy to Andy who had started typical GSD traits. She was guarding, reactive towards people and other dogs, and liked to bite everything including us. Andy recommended his 4 week puppy/adult board and train based on her needs. We cannot say enough good things about Andy and his program. He treated our girl like his own and sent us update videos with her progress. Nala was clearly so happy at his facility and made a lot of other puppy friends she would play with. We got back our spunky girl who now knows there are expectations on how to behave. Andy taught us how to transition what she learned to our house and Nala is doing amazing. We can now walk peacefully through our neighborhood passing by people and dogs without an issue. Thank you Andy!

Andy had our GSD puppy for the 4 week program and I can’t speak higher about him and the program. Andy is a true professional and great person, not once did I question or worry about our dog. He kept us updated week by week and our puppy came back with all the knowledge she needs to be successful. Cannot recommend him enough, I wouldn’t consider taking my dog anywhere else.

Andy was amazing with Bandit and so patient and moved at his pace for the best success! Also, what helped me learn what I needed to do to continue bandits' success after was the weekly videos he sent explaining what they’ve worked on and the PowerPoint you can get after to help remind you what you need to do. It was so cool to see the change in his confidence and behavior. You can definitely trust that your dog is in great hands and getting tons of love along with the great training! So worth it and now I can take my sweet boy out in public!! 😁

Andy has been so helpful with helping Rocky understand expectations and how to meet them. He has also been so helpful with teaching my husband and I how to clearly communicate with him so that we can build a great relationship.
