I would like to train at least one of my dogs to be a support or therapy dog. I have three I consider trainable and sweet enough to do the job, but would need more training. What do you suggest?
I would suggest scheduling a meeting to meet the dogs and discuss your options. It can get complicated and there’s a lot to consider when training a therapy dog. I was able to watch her training videos each week to see her incredible progress, and when we ran into hiccups at home or new behaviors, Ross helped me to figure out the best course of action to help her progress. Right from the start they have been understanding of our specific situation and worked closely with us to develop a training plan. Not only did they train him extremely well with general obedience, but they also helped walk us through solutions for our specific issues to transition him smoothly back into our home. I couldn’t recommend MCC more! I have an anxious 5 year old rescue (Mia) who struggled to feel confident outside, and therefore wouldn’t listen to commands. One of the trainers, John, did a consultation with Mia and recommending the 5-week program based on our needs. I was nervous about the length of time, but the team ensured me of her comfort and progress through videos and funny report cards along the way. I have seen so much progress in her, and I’m excited to continue the training with the coaching I got. The trainers & staff are excellent & personable, taking you along the journey and following up post boot camp!
