Buddy, oh Buddy; we do love you, but you were a handful as a pup. I don’t know the first thing about raising a dog (#firstTimer) but enter Mindful Canines of TX to the rescue! From the first meeting, I knew Katie would be a great fit. Katie’s scientific approach to dog training gives her a great understanding on how dog brains operate so she can effectively communicate with them in no time at all. The first few things my family and I noticed were the absences of counter surfing and whining in his kennel. We are a pretty busy family, so the kennel is a must. Katie taught Buddy to stay low, and to really enjoy the relaxing life he gets to have in his kennel – I am a tad jealous. As time moved on, Katie taught Buddy a few tricks so our two boys could play and interact with him more – they love it. Buddy learned to sit, wait, shake, pull his paws up, play dead, roll over and spin around – SHE EVEN TAUGHT HIM TO SWIM. While Buddy is no Michael Phelps, he is safe in our backyard by the pool now! Towards the end of the intensive training, Katie began to take Buddy out to busy public situations (PetSmart, Market Street in The Woodlands, outdoor eating etc.) and he was able to act like the little furry gentlemen that my family has fallen in love with. Buddy has become much less anxious and is more relaxed in these kinds of social situations since Katie has helped us. I cannot recommend Katie enough for intensive dog training. Buddy is a completely different dog since having her help. My family and I look forward to a lifetime of memories built with Buddy since we are now able to bring him out to play and – once we are brave enough – begin to bring him out in public with us!
