Mid-Michigan K9 Academy - Saginaw

I got the flu severely and was calling different boarding places since I was too sick to care for her. This place seemed like it had no business and was very outdated but it was my only choice. Cold, metal cages, and rusted chains. My dog was instantly terrified and she’s a very gentle laid back German shepherd. She’s been boarded and went to a basic obedience academy. Her temperature is extremely sweet she’s around 3 years old and has been boarded multiple times she has an amazing relationship with all animals. This was NOT a new experience for her, she loves daycare/boarding. The very reactive aggressive dogs left her scared and skittish the next day. It broke my heart to see her like that. When I picked her up she was spiraling and just ready to leave, pulling, crying excessively like she was in severe pain, hiding in between my legs. She drank EXCESSIVE amount of water when we got home and seemed like she hadn’t had water in hours either. I believe they should separate the reactive aggressive breeds in a separate room then keep all the softer temperaments in the same room. I’m very unsure what happen that one night she was there but it definitely left her petrified. I would never leave her here again.

I cannot thank the team enough for what they did for Meesha. My girl was having some aggression issues due to changes in my home, specifically with one of my other dogs. I was completely lost and heartbroken not sure if I was going to have to part ways with her. I found mid-Michigan and spoke with Jim. After a brief evaluation in Troy it was off to Saginaw for 4-6 weeks. To say redemption is an understatement. Meesha has come back to me as the best version of herself. And as a bonus, she’s starting to show her little brother what’s she’s learned and it’s rubbing off. I’m so happy to have my girl back! Thank you for everything!!!!!

We took our then 3 yr old female and 2.5 year old male Airedale terriers to MMK9A in 2024. We live in a setting where most dogs are off leash and fenced yards are few and far between. Our top concerns were reactivity (barking/charging) to people/kids/dogs, poor recall, and lack of leash control when walking. We had completed puppy training early on with PetSmart. We did the 1 week board and stay. This breed is not commonly seen and is known for being stubborn, crazy smart and extremely strong (both over 80#s). Fast forward to today, we just finished our first family vacation where the pups were included. We went hiking in the UP, visited several dog friendly venues including shopping and restaurants. There was new stimulation and distractions everywhere. The listened so well while walking navigating all of the people, new smells and MANY DOGS. Got compliments on how well they were listening all weekend long. This would never have been possible without the expertise and the tools we were given to help give them their best life from MMK9A. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and caring. Saginaw location was very clean, SAFE and well managed. Upon our return for check-in after training, pups were so excited to enter the building (which speaks volumes to us). I would not hesitate to take my fur babies back for more training. Highly recommend!!!

So unfortunately, my dog Kira was not a success story. Her aggression was truly an anomaly and random (we suspect rage syndrome). We did the 6 week board and train. Staff was super supportive the entire time and honest about it, they didn't try to hide the fact that while there was some progress there were still concerns and they suspected it was something medical. Despite this staff was super supportive and understanding and empathetic when I had contacted the breeder and through consult knew the only option left was euthanasia. The team members hugged me and cried with me and helped me be able to quarantine her safely there where I know she was loved and spoiled until I was able to take her home for her last 48 hours. They were so professional, I loved the daily updates and videos of her training, and the validation I got in our rare circumstance of it being truly random aggression and the difficult decision we had to make. When I am eventually ready for another dog I will be bringing them straight to MidMichigan K9 for puppy and therapy dog training.
