We worked with Sam with our focus primarily being on recall although we did address a few other things as well. She made me feel like she had the rest of her life to focus on our issues (in other words never felt rushed or in a hurry) her knowledge and understanding of how dogs communicate and think and ability to clearly help me to understand that is outstanding, and I’ve worked with my share of dog trainers over my life. My dog now has such an enthusiastic and joyful response to recall that it makes me laugh out loud. Sam also was very responsive to any questions or problems we had after our initial training session, I highly recommend her!

So grateful I found Sam at Mellow Hound for my reactive dog. She treated Millie and I so kindly and made the whole training experience positive for both of us. Sam's patience and guidance were greatly appreciated. Not only did my dog learn but I did as well. Millie is happier and I am more confident. I especially liked the detailed emails received after each session giving a recap of key points we worked on. If you are considering a professional dog trainer, I highly recommend Sam Hendeson. She is fantastic! We started with Sam just a few short months ago to help correct some unwanted behavior and build our relationship with our 1 yr old Puppy Gigi we adopted when she was only 6 months old. We had been experiencing some scary moments with her resource guarding her food at meal time and we were extremely concerned that without hands on guidance, this issue might escalate. We bought a package because I thought this issue might need several sessions to correct but our first session went so well and completely resolved it immediately. It was amazing. After that first session, Gigi no longer resource guarded her food so we were able to work on some other issues like cooperative care for grooming and crate training. Like most dogs, Gigi does NOT like visits to the groomer and was very difficult. She did not cooperate with the process at all! She especially did not like having her paws touched for nail trims. After working with Sam, I am able to successfully do Gigi's nails myself! Not only does it save me from feeling the stress and anxiety of taking her in for professional treatments, this also saves me money! Gigi and I have made nail grooming a game and she gets happy the minute she sees me approaching her with the nail grooming tools. It is totally stress free for both of us! I am so thankful for Sam's help with Gigi! Not only has Gigi's confidence and trust grown with us as her new forever family, our confidence has grown as well. I can honestly say that choosing to invest in a training package with Sam was one of the best decisions and best investments we have ever made! I am so thankful I found her website when I did and highly recommend her to anyone thinking about hiring a trainer!

Sam is an open, kind, knowledgable and professional trainer and my husband and I enjoy her calm, thoughtful approach and guidance with our young puppy. Sam doesn't arrive with an agenda, but takes time to get to know her clients, including dog clients. One of the things I appreciate most about Sam is her her communication, verbal and written.
